Isaac stood with his hand extended, the summoning symbol was sprawled out in front of him on the main living room floor. The single rug had been removed leaving only the hardwood underneath. Candles on stands all around caused light and shadow played across the room. He licked his lips, once he summoned a Servant there would be no going back. Enemy Masters and Servants would try to kill him to get there hands on the Holy Grail. There was no hesitation as the spell left his lips. Wind began to blow until it turned into a howling gale that caused his eyes to narrow and tear. His jacket whipped around him and the fabric itself felt as if it would tear. A light appeared in the center of the circle and grew brighter and brighter until it blinded him. A little voice began to speak in the back of his mind despite his efforts to silence it.

'Should it be this... intense?'

The candles were blown out and toppled over, paintings came loose from the walls and standing lights crashed to the floor. All at once the storm and light that had appeared vanished and the silence was deafening in his ears. The light had burned into his and he blinked, trying to focus his vision and hopefully see a figure before him.

The Holy Grail War. For ages, Maria had been wondering when she would get a chance, a shot to achieve the Holy Grail and allow her native country to forever be peaceful. Eternal peace...some might say it was naive. Folly. But she didn't care; it was the right thing to do. Her country deserved peace, after what had happened. There must have been in more wars, too, after the Contestado War. These thoughts swirled in the Servant's mind as she was summoned. How did she know she was being summoned?

Because this had never happened before, wasn't that enough? It only took mere moments, and suddenly she was out of the Throne of Heroes. She was plunged back into the ordinary world. The first thing she noticed about her surroundings were the toppled candles, as well as the torn paintings. Not to mention the broken lights on the floor. But more than anything, what caught her attention was the man before her. Well, no, that wasn't entirely accurate; he seemed more boy than man. But had he been the one to summon her?

"Did you summon me?" was the first thing she asked, locking her eyes on him, keeping a neutral expression on her face.

The glaring splash of color blocking his site finally receded. A... girl? She stood to around his chin with black hair and dark grey eyes the color of storm clouds. Her face was framed with soft lines and her body was slightly thin. The color of her skin was a dark tan and she wore a simple blue dress. Was she really a Servant? How could he ask this child to fight for him in a war? His brain began to rattle off possible identities. Baudica? Definitely not. Baudica had been a full grown woman. Atalanta? She was not greek, that was sure. He needed to think southern climes...

"Did you summon me?"

The question startled him out of his thoughts, and also made him realize he had been staring at her as one does a puzzle they attempting to put together. He blinked several times before straightening himself and speaking clearly.

“Yes, my name is Isaac Riverline.”

It occurred to him that being summoned into a room that appeared to have been the location of a hurricane probably was not the best way to make an impression on someone, but that concern was quickly brushed aside. First he needed to figure out who this girl was.

She was glad to hear him answer in the affirmative. A human might not be glad, because there was nothing waiting for them after they died, but if she fell...well, that was unlikely, but still, if she did, she could always try again in the future. For the moment, this male was her Master, the one she was going to work with to win the Holy Grail. He looked rather young, though he was definitely taller than her. And yet, despite that, he was rather skinny; she didn't mind this. Servants were meant to protect their Masters, and by the look of him, she was going to have to do a lot of protecting. "You are my Master, then," she said, not asked, just to confirm it for the both of them.

With that out of the way, she looked around once again. Had a hurricane or tornado struck here? Impossible, the house was still standing. So did that mean her Master didn't have much control? If so, this was going to be more difficult than she thought. Maria didn't bother requesting to see the Command Seal; she could already feel the connection they had, the magical energy flowing from him to her, in order to keep her sustained in the world. "I am Saber," she said politely, turning her attention to him once more.

"More accurately, I am Maria Rosa." she added. It was doubtful he'd know who she was, but it wouldn't take that much for him to research her and find out, if he so desired.

Maria Rosa? The name brushed against his mind like a feather, almost annoying with its vague familiarity. He had heard the name before. Her voice was also soft, quiet, and sounded distinctly Brazilian. An iron blanket suddenly draped across his shoulders as the strain from the summoning hit him and he heaved a deep sigh.

“It's good to meet you Maria, sorry for the mess. The power of the Grail really is something else.”

He smiled, a light chuckle being pushed from his lungs in an effort to take his mind off the weight suddenly sitting on his chest.

“Well, for now, seeing as you were just summoned is there anything you want to ask? About where or when we are?”

Servants were Heroic Souls from the past, there was no doubt every Magus participating in the war knew that. Isaac was worried she might suffer from culture shock with the explosion of technology over the last century and a half. The last thing he needed was for her to attack a car thinking it was a charging metal beast.

Maria noted the sigh her Master gave out; the summoning must have tired him. Maria didn't have a deep understanding of the process, but was one supposed to be so tired after it? It made sense if they were, though. Servants were not easy at all to summon, not like an ordinary familiar was.

"It's...alright. I can't imagine it was easy to summon me," Maria said to him, looking around again as if she were just noticing the mess, though that was clearly not true. She was just trying her best to be polite. After all, this man was to be her Master, yes?

It would be best for them to have a good relationship with one another, then. "And no...I have nothing to ask. Don't you know that Servants automatically know the basics about the current time frame they are in? That includes the technology, culture, and everything else." Maria answered him, trying not to show how amused she was at such a question. How silly would it be for a being like a Servant to be debilitated due to shock from the current age they were in?

The girl looked around the room again her black hair swaying with each movement. Her eyes carefully avoided him, lingering unnecessarily on a picture here or lamp there.

"And no...I have nothing to ask. Don't you know that Servants automatically know the basics about the current time frame they are in? That includes the technology, culture, and everything else."

The young Magus blinked, well that was... convenient. He supposed the Grail War would have collapsed by now if most Servants suffered culture shock, but how did the Grail know what its Servants needed to learn about the modern world? If it was aware of human history, was it aware of itself? The pain in his chest was starting to subside and he crossed his arms in front of him. Since hearing of the Grail War all he had been able to think about was curing his family's illness, like it would be the grand finale of some fantastical adventure. As he looked at this girl in front of him now though, he realized that was exactly what it seemed like, some genie-in-a-bottle story, and there was no way it could be that simple.
Maria was still looking around however, and he snapped himself back into focus, they had a war to fight. He cleared his throat and gestured to the door, next to which he had placed a small shoulder bag.

“Well, if you are sure your alright, would you mind looking around town with me for a while? We should probably get used to the lay out before we fight some of the other pairs.”

He...blinked. Clearly he had not been expecting an answer such as that, and Maria managed to restrain a smile from showing up on her face due to that. Had he really thought the Grail would not account for the development of humanity when summoning Heroic Spirits? Maria looked to him when he had cleared his throat, however, and then to the door. He wanted to know if she'd like to look around the town with him. On one hand, it would be a good idea to. To scope it out and get an idea, a feel, for where their opponents might show up. On the other hand, he did seem fatigued from the summoning. Was he trying to shove his weakness to the side in order to get this done? Maria hesitated for a moment, because if someone did happen across them, her master would be weak. But eventually she nodded her head, giving a polite, firm smile to him.

"I would be pleased to, Master." the girl answered him. Why the word, Master? Because she did not yet know his name. And it was fitting for her to say Master, considering he was hers and there was no other word to describe him other than that.
