Everything was so blurred.

What had happened?

He had been in one of the many places in the Throne of Heroes; it had been a big forest if he was correct. He had walked into a wizard and stepped on his feet. That had been one of the most stupid things to ever happen to him. Then the man had screamed something incomprehensible at him and started chanting. He had been prepared to hit the magic user over the head, but he was too slow. There had been light and a feeling of weightlessness. He wondered whether he had died again. It wouldn't be the most unusual thing that had happened since his arrival in the Throne. His eyes were closed and he listened to his surroundings. There was wind whistling and he could feel warm sunshine on his skin.

His body felt a bit heavy and he could feel sand under his feet…

Wait… sand?

The king of Hastinapura opened his eyes. His gaze grazed the surrounding. Sand left and right, this was a desert. He had seen these before and yet he couldn't fully understand what had happened. Then he understood. Whoever the wizard was, he had gone out of his way to transport him here. This was probably some very dangerous place full with monsters that would try to eat him… though, on the other hand, maybe the wizard just wanted him to walk through a desert. It would certainly not be a nice experience.

"I stand on some stupid wizards feet and wake up surrounded by sand. Great, this is just my luck."

He looked over the endless desert, the sand filling everything in his vision and wondered where this was. He knew that he was still in the Throne of Heroes, or at least he hoped so, but where exactly was not clear. Unfortunately, the knowledge entrusted to him by the will of the world didn't come with a manual and sure as hell not with a map of the area.

There was no one here. He was all alone and his way was free in every direction. The sun burned upon the sand and the horizon didn't give any clues. Duryodhana had been a king for many years and learnt to judge the land during that time. There was nothing that would give away whether one direction was better then the other.

"It doesn't look like there is anything else to do."

With a small sigh he began to walk through the desert. The sound of his footsteps was muffled by the endless sand. He could only hope that he would find another human being in this place… and water. After all, though he had been here for a long time, he always tried to get food and water. Also, he was unsure whether Heroic Spirits could die of thirst, but he really didn't want to find out the truth.

Wasn't there a light on the horizon?

Trudging slowly through the desert, his blistered bare feet kicking up great gouts of sand with every step the great King made his way across the waste, the sun beating down mercilessly on his feather crowned head. He had sworn to see what lay beyond the boarders of his jungle realm and now that he was here he was disappointed. There was nothing but blistering sand and scorching heat on this boarder of his territory. Still, he was a King, the chosen of the great gods, almighty conqueror of his people; he could not return to his city of pyramids empty handed...

And so he trudged, shielding his almond eyes from the sun, his swollen lips and tongue mumbling out vain prayers to Chakk.

Suddenly, there on the horizon! Squinting his eyes further he made out a slender lonesome figure... was it another wanderer, or perhaps some wraith come to test him? Clutching his obsidian spear he stood his ground and shouted a challenge to the figure.

His voice cracked at the first syllable and the majestic words he had prepared did not come. Scowling he reached towards his belt and drew forth his half empty water gourd, taking a brief sip to wet his lips.
Resuming his forward path his trudge became a commanding stride as he marcher forward to meet this stranger, spear held tightly at his side.
"Ay ay ay ay ay! We are Yuknoom the Serpent Lord!" He shouted. "Sacker of Tikal! Uniter of tribes, spokesmen and chosen of the gods, lord of the Hix, blood bringer of the forests and the blessed of rain!"

One step was taken before the next. It was something he had grown used to long ago. Warfare often took long marching through the land and he had gone to war many times. Still, he would really prefer nicer scenery… and the heat was just horrible.

His eyes continued to scan the surrounding. What he had thought to be a light had turned out to be a big stone that was cut by the sand and reflected the sunlight just right. It was truly a troublesome thing. It also made any attempt to find a real fire in this place rather frustrating. He never knew whether his next target was a gathering of wanderers, or just another stupid stone.

His hand came up to wipe away the sweat, not that it would hold his body's reaction off for long. A sigh escaped his mouth as he continued to look forward. It was not good to look at the sun too often. Though he was a Heroic Spirit, it would still hurt his eyes and he didn't want to be blinded right now.

His monotonous mach came to a halt as he heard a loud call from his side.

"Ay ay ay ay ay! We are Yuknoom the Serpent Lord!"

"Sacker of Tikal! Uniter of tribes, spokesmen and chosen of the gods, lord of the Hix, blood bringer of the forests and the blessed of rain!"

That was an ominous set of titles. His body moved almost reflexively and sand swished while he turned to the other man. His eyes swept over the body of his counterpart. Light clothes made of the skin of some beast and a head adorned with dark feathers, maybe from a raven? The man was muscular, but not hulking and held a spear with a tip made of some kind of gemstone. It was most likely magical or otherwise special, they were always magical.

Though the other man had not shouted any insults, the words were obviously spoken in challenge and his pride, small as it was, wouldn't allow him to remain silent.

"I greet you Lord Yuknoom, I am Duryodhana, King of Hastinapura, Oldest of the Kauravas, Friend of the Sun, Student of Drona, Kripa and favourite pupil of Balarama."

The words were spoken loud and clearly as answer to the man that had dared to challenge his past with his own. His hand moved to his weapon. He wouldn't start the fight, but his time in the Throne had taught him that there were some very bloodthirsty people in it.

Shaking his spear at the man Yuknoom motioned violently towards the man in a traditional gesture of formal challenge. The strange King was a one of those from beyond the edge of the world, with a strange complexion and even stranger clothing. He had met such Hero's before and with the prospect of testing one of their Kings before him his response was sure and swift.

"Hoyohutal! We are the snake who's girth encircles all the lands! Face me if you dare outlander, and see how far your kingship flys in the face of the gods chosen!"

Harradr really didn't care for deserts, in fact he had no idea why he was in this particular desert. The throne of heroes was a mysterious place; one moment you could be drifting around in a complete and all-consuming dark abyss and the other you could find yourself standing in a lush and fertile rain forest. Harradr would have preferred a rain forest to a desert.

He had looked around with his superior eyesight, trying to find somewhere to go - at least to find a place out of this horrible sun. That was when he spotted to figures standing opposite of each other. One of them carrying a spear and waving it around and the other clutching his weapons as if in reply.

"Company! Maybe they can tell me what I, no, what we are doing here." Harradr thought, then, putting a fresh smile on his face, he started running as well as he could in the sand towards the two figures in the distance.

As he heard the exclamations of the other man, his grip on his weapon grew stronger. It was not in his nature to attack randomly. He disliked violence that had no reason and only served to prove ones superiority. Still, he understood the rule of strength. There was not going to be a way out of this without a fight. He knew this kind of person. Though he was from a land far away, the ones that thrived in battle were known all over the world. Still, under normal circumstances he would have at least made a token attempt at diplomacy…

But he had called himself chosen by the gods.

If there was something he truly hated, then it was gods. They had chosen his fate from the moment of his birth. Again and again they stood in his way. They took from him his loyal warriors, his closest advisors and even his very life. Yet, there was one crime he could never forgive. His friend had stood by his side and lived a valiant and good life, but divine intervention had damned him.

He could never forget the rage and despair of that day.

His mace flipped forward and created a great whirl of dust for a moment. It wouldn't remain the only stirring of the ground.

"Wuaaaahhhhhhh!!!" His roar would was so loud, surely one could hear it even beyond the desert and energy gathered around him.

Prana exploded out of his body and he was covered in lightning and thunder. Then he moved. It was only a single step, but it took him in range to hit his target with his weapon without fail. His weapon twirled and its tip moved from the ground in a rotary motion until it was overhead from his opponent. A small smile was on his lips. Though he wasn't a battle maniac, he did feel a certain excitement about measuring his skills against another. Without hesitation, he brought down the weapon on the other warrior.

He was so drowned in his memories and rage; he didn't even notice that a third person had appeared in the desert.

Sorry for not reacting to you in this post Akaecius, but I already had it done when you posted.

Before him the opposing king answered his challenge with a fearsome war cry of his own, power and lightning exploded out of his body and in a single step he shot towards him like a diving eagle covering the space between them at a tremendous speed.

His challenger approaching much faster than he had anticipated Yuknoom was forced to move quickly. Drawing his spear back he let fly, quicker than he preferred to. His instinct warned him of the result of such a hasty throw and sure enough his spear went wild, passing over a yard above his targets shoulder while the King covered the gap between them with alarming expedition.

"Cha!"

With the same swiftness the King brought around one of the strange foreign weapons, like an immense club it was, but made out of the alien substances that his kind often employed. Whatever it was it looked heavy enough to smash his bones and it was blistering with the fire of Chaac.

Sidestepping the blow Yuknoom pulled his Macana from his belt and drew his obsidian dagger.

As Harradr had come closer to the two figures in the sand they had apparently started fighting. Now close enough to distinguish facial features clearly he could see that two men were fighting each other fiercely. "Hey, hey what are you guys doing? Calm down!" Harradr said to the two figures. Since he was in the throne of heroes Harradr assumed that anyone else he would meet in there was also a servant or a familiar of one. These men, however, seemed to be more than just familiars and thus he concluded that they must be servants.

"I am Harradr, master archer and slayer of dragons, and I serve none but Vellnist. You two seem to be fighting - fair enough - but let me hear your problem and let's talk about it so that we can sort it out."

Harradr tried a diplomatic approach and hoped that the two warriors would listen to him.

Sand, everything was filled with sand. It had started to swirl like a living thing when he first attacked and now a veil of sand shot at the moment of his impact on the ground. He didn't attempt to stop his attack, mainly because it would only slow him down. His mace exploded on the ground and even more sand shot at the sky.

Though his opponent had sidestepped, this would not stop him from a follow up attack. But he couldn't see his opponent in this chaos of a miniature sandstorm. Reluctantly he deactivated his prana burst and jumped a small distance backwards. It was almost like he was flying and he stopped after around 3 metres, barely anything for a heroic spirit and remained at this point.

His weapon came up again and he prepared for the next exchange of attacks. He didn't think his opponent would be as surprised the second time. Suddenly, he was surprised by something.

"Hey, hey what are you guys doing? Calm down!"

The voice disrupted his battle lust and he turned to regard its source. The man looked strong, much stronger then the other man and his muscles seemed to bulge literally. His eyes were of a startling green and gave the sharp feeling of an archer, something that was supported by the quiver on his back.

"I am Harradr, master archer and slayer of dragons, and I serve none but Vellnist. You two seem to be fighting - fair enough - but let me hear your problem and let's talk about it so that we can sort it out."

Upon these words he turned halfway to the other man, not losing sight of the Mayan Warlord. Anyone that could slay a dragon, even a minor one, was worthy of attention and wariness. His weapon held in a defensive position, he decided to answer the man.

I was challenged by this man, Yuknoom, to a fight and answered him with my mace. There is nothing else to this." His words were short and to the point, but still easy to hear.

As Yuknoom's enemy brought his mace down it kicked up a great gout of sand briefly blinding him. By the time it had cleared his enemy had removed himself from the range of his counter attack. This king was fast indeed... but it was not this which gave the feathered warrior pause, somewhere in between the beginning of their bout a voice had interrupted them and his challenger had turned to address the newcomer. Swatting the sand away from his eyes Yuknoom also turned to face the new arrival, lowering his weapons and squinting against the glare of the sun. It was another foreigner who had interrupted their bout, a bowman. He had heard the mans titles but was unsure of what a dragon was. In any case the man had said that he was a Servant of Vellnist...

"Newcomer, it is a challenge between Kings you have interrupted! This Vellnist you serve, is he a King or a god?"
