Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament courtesy of roanoke.com So many anglers are turning out to enjoy the exceptional speckled trout fishing along the coast of Virginia that you might mistake the crowds for some kind of aquatic Black Friday mob. More than 150 speckled trout citations were registered in the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament the past week. The apex of the action is the Elizabeth River where the size of the trout continues to increase each day with very few shorter than 18 inches, according to Dr. Julie Ball’s fishing report. Some fish are pushing past the 30-inch mark. Here are the tournament standings: * Amberjack: 54 release citations * Black Drum: 86 pounds, caught by Matthew Hamay, Gloucester, off Fisherman’s Island, 32 citations. * Blue Marlin: 119 release citations * Bluefish: four release citations * Blueline Tilefish: 19 pounds, 8, Rickie Atkins, Ashburn, Norfolk Canyon, 283 citations * Cobia: 97 pounds, Capt.
