Living n the Southern Continent wasn't easy. Living in Southern Weyr wasn't easy. With the daily heat and the night time freeze, it would be a lie to say that the riders here were sitting in the lap of luxury. Besides, the Southern Weyr had a black mark against them, and there was no escaping that fact. Having once housed the Old Timers whom had then stolen a Queen's egg, though they had long disappeared, it was something that had branded them even now. Nobody really knew where the Old Timers had gone with the egg, only that they had simply just... disappeared. As if they had never been here in the first place.
Still, there were some things that made it all worth the trouble, at least, to this particular Greenrider anyways.

The morning came creeping in, and for a brief moment, the temperature actually wasn't so bad. Next to her hut, her bonded dragon stretched herself across the sand of the beach as her rider leaned against the entrance of her weyr. They both watched as Rukbat crept across into the skies, peeking over the ocean's edge, setting it ablaze in a sight quite worthy to behold.
Rukbat's rising and setting always were.

With a chuckle in her throat, Melin stepped away from her hut, reaching over to Riverlith and reaching out to scratch the Green's eyeridge. The Green let out a soft rumble of approval before blinking sleepily.
Do we have anything of particular planned today mine?
No, not really love. It's a rather slow day today.
Then there is no hurry. I had wished to sleep a little bit more, perhaps I would have time for a nap this afternoon in the shades of the trees.
Melin laughed then, giving her dragon one final scratch, "That you would love. That you would."

It was hard to be bothered by the weather in a certain place when that place was the only place you'd ever known. Actually, it was hard to be bothered at all when you happened to be this particular bluerider, but that's beside the point. D'riv had been born and raised in Southern. The Southern lifetsyle was the only one he knew, and the only one he cared to know regardless of heat or freeze at any time of day. Still, if there was a time of day when the temperature was nice, that didn't mean he wouldn't take advantage of it.

D'riv trudged through the sand with no real purpose or direction that morning. What he was even doing awake was a question worth asking. Liamoth was still asleep back at their weyr - or at least he was trying to be. That was sometimes a bit hard to do when D'riv well awake himself. After a few words from Liamoth in protest to having his ear talked off by his rider so early though, D'riv found himself humming a little tune as he went along to occupy his thoughts. It seemed everyone else was asleep around here until movement at a weyr not that far off caught his eye.

Grinning almost evilly then, the bluerider ambled over to the pair he had seen.
"A bit early to be up and about, isn't it?" He made no attempt to announce his presence beforehand, simply calling out that statement as he drew nearer. Somehow the concept of others waking up early because they felt like it eluded him. He strode right up to them, not waiting to see whether they cared or not, or even trying that hard to see if he knew the pair or not. That was just how D'riv was though, and most people had at least heard about his reputation if they had been around long enough. Granted, some people were lucky enough to have avoided him, but he would gladly change that given the chance.

The thing about sand was that it was hard to be completely silent on it, and in the relative silence of the early mornings, it was hard to miss somebody's approach or to mask one's own. So perhaps, it wasn't that surprising that the Greenrider wasn't startled when somebody spoke up. In fact, other than blinking slightly and shrugging, she didn't seem to react very much at all.
Neither positive nor negative of the other rider's presence, she merely ran her hand down her Green's hide as Riverlith turned her own large head to eye the male in a speculative manner. The Green didn't at all seem pleased that her morning with her bonded had been disrupted, but she didn't seem displeased enough to do anything about it really.

"I suppose to some," Melin muttered, "This might be considered early. Still, this is about normal for me, and there is much to be seen and done at this time of the day." Riverlith rumbled in amusement, spreading a wing and rolling over onto her side slightly so that the early rays could warm her belly. The Greenrider merely shrugged again then, this time more obviously, "Each to their own really."

Silence in the early morning was not something D'riv was particularly concerned with. But then again, neither was just about anything else involing some kind of consideration. He did as he pleased more often than not, regardless of what anyone else around thought of it. That went for both human and dragon. If his footsteps in the sand had given him away, so be it. So when the rider he had so kindly walked up on didn't seem all that surprised by his question, he wasn't all that surprised either.

D'riv looked at the green dragon before him and flashed her a charming as she looked back at him. "A good morning to you, fair Green. I'm sorry to say my Liamoth hasn't come with me this morning. I'm sure he would have loved to have a little chat with you." Always the charmer, that D'riv. Or at least, trying. The truth of it was that Liamoth just hadn't been in the mood to go wandering about, pestering people at sunrise. He had chosen to remain at their weyr.

As if on cue, the bluerider yawned, throwing his arms back in what was either a very satisfying stretch, or a very exaggerated one. "If you say so. I've never been one for early mornings though." He shrugged, then waved a hand somewhat dismissively in the direction of Rukbat. The beauty of nature wasn't exactly his thing.

Laid back as she was, Melin had always been an early riser. Perhaps it had to do with having woken up so early every morning for so long, or perhaps it's simply because she liked seeing Rukbat rise. It was, after all, in her nature. It wasn't the same for everybody else, but as she had said. Each to their own. As for Riverlith, the Green blinked slightly as she was spoken to, then nodding her head in a mild understanding.

Unlike so many other Greens, she didn't seem overly energetic at all. In fact, she was even calm as she studied the oceans before them, the way the waves broke over the shore. It was something that the Green did quite often. Most people said that Greens didn't have as much of a thinking capacity as Bronzes or Golds, and they would be right to some extent. It didn't stop Riverlith from thinking anyways.
The Green nudged hers gently on the side, drawing her bonded into a conversation.
You do not wish to talk to the other rider mine?
No. It's not that. I just wish for a moment to take in the peace right now.
Ah. The mornings are rather peaceful aren't they?

With that the Green nodded again to D'riv, silently asking him to give hers a moment to gather herself before they continued with this... conversation... as the humans called it she believed.

D'riv watched both rider and dragon curiously as they seemed to be having their own provate thoughts. Maybe they were conversing, maybe they were both just staring off at the sea. Either was possible he supposed, though he didn't exactly see the interest in staring at water. He yawned again, and decided to try out their water-staring thing. Maybe there actually was something about it that he hadn't bothered to notice. One... Two... Nope, still nothing. Just water to him really, the same as any other water.

The bluerider was getting ready to say something to the greenrider that probably wasn't going to please her much, more because he was an annoying person than for any other reason, when something made him stop mouth agape. There was a sound, faint now but growing louder, of footsteps in the sand coming from the same direction as he had. He had an idea who it might be, and turning just confirmed this as a familiar brown shape appeared.

---------------

'He is over here Sh'Mine.' Brown Charth confirmed. Sh'fet didn't need the confirmation though. The dragon hadn't come any closer but rather remained where he was as his rider stormed through the sand. He carried something in his hand, a set of rider's straps. The straps in question were far too worn to be safe though, and not exactly fitted to Sh'fet and Charth.

The brownrider was far too frustrated to have immediately noticed Melin or Riverlith there. The only thing his sight was set on was D'riv as he strode up to the taller man and shook the old straps in the air.
"What was this sharding piece of rubbish doing in my weyr, you wherry-faced tunnelsnake?" The man was obviously much more awake than D'riv, who merely shrugged at the question.
"I haven't the slightest, but you might want to calm down a touch Little Brother. There's a pretty lady and her dragon right here with us and I don't think they're fond of your screaming." The bluerider gestured toward the greenrider and dragon, and Sh'fet's eyes grew wide as he realized that he'd been so rude.
"I'm terribly sorry about... This." He threw a hand in the direction of his older brother. "I didn't mean to just storm up on you like that. This isn't the first time he's stolen my straps and left me his old ones."

Charth, meanwhile, was still right where he had been, several lengths down the beach and away from the riders. He dipped his head in apology to Riverlith, sorry that His and His's brother had caused her and Hers so much trouble.
'Please forgive Mine's intrusion, he isn't usually this... rude. Mine and Liamoth's are brothers, you see, and Liamoth's is often doing things to upset Sh'Mine. He would not come blazing up here so loudly like that at so early an hour for any other reason, I assure you.'
