Geara Zulu Model Number: AMS-129 Overall Height: 20.0m Base Weight: 21.8t

A mass production mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics, in order to replace the AMS-119 Geara Doga as the main machine of the Neo Zeon forces. It has all the elements of the orthodox Zeon style, as well as the chest and wrist markings that give the Sleeves their nickname. The design of its decorations and the shape of its spikes vary depending on the forces who use it and the rank of its pilot.

This version of the Geara Zulu, the Sleeves' main mobile suit, is used by Full Frontal's elite guards. Its thrust is dramatically enhanced so that it can operate alongside the Sinanju, and its shoulders are equipped with large spike armor that gives it a more aggressive silhouette. The chest and wrist markings, from which the Sleeves get their nickname, are more elaborate than those of an ordinary machine to show that it belongs to the royal guards.
Geara Zulu (Angelo Sauper use) Model Number: AMS-129 Overall Height: 20.0m Base Weight: 27.3t

This Geara Zulu belongs to Angelo Sauper, the chief of Full Frontal's elite guards, and is painted in his violet personal colors. The heavy armament backpack attached to its back has two large propellant tanks, and provides increased thrust and a longer operating time. It uses an improved Lange Bruno gun, a long-range beam weapon, to support the Sinanju in battle.

Was digging through MechaTalk, and stumbled upon an old post I thought was useful:

The HG-UC kit manual is maddeningly vague about the performance comparison between the Geara Doga and the Geara Zulu. Here's the only bit that even remotely addresses it: - Quote:
-
...And so the Geara Zulu, rather than being an "all-new" machine with a newly developed OS, essentially failed to depart from the category of "developed, enhanced, updated Geara Doga model." But the knowhow obtained from the production of the Geara Doga, the accumulation of performance improvements at the component level that had taken place over the years, and the fact that ease of production and maintenance were considered from the start of the design process, meant that it was relatively easy to modify the machine and enhance or add to its functions, and it ended up being extremely easy to work with.
On the face of it, this suggests that the Geara Zulu should be an improvement over the Geara Doga, but it doesn't guarantee it. Although it's designed to be easy to upgrade, that doesn't mean the base model is superior. I'd also note that the Royal Guard version is meant to have drastically increased thrust so that it can keep up with the Sinanju. Although its thigh thrusters have been upgraded from MS-06R-1 leg units to MS-06R-2 ones (which seems like a cute sight gag), most of this would have to be a result of replacing the weeny little Geara Zulu backpack with the larger Geara Doga version. That suggests that the Doga backpack has a lot more thrust, regardless of what the official specs say. -- Mark

Was digging through MechaTalk, and stumbled upon an old post I thought was useful: I saw that before when digging also. Is it ok to assume that its a refined Geara Doga? or just a Geara Doga with all the kinks worked out of it and because of it performs better (then known as the Geara Zulu)?

Seems pretty obvious to me that they've said nothing clearly, but if we're left to speculate rationally they take the Geara Doga knowhow and parts and make a basic machine that may, or may not, perform as well as the Doga, but can be upgraded more easily.

See, I don't even like the Geara Zulu and I thought that was pretty nifty. That really is quite a bit of old weaponry they're running there, the Skiure of all things in particular.
