I honestly loathe this design. But it is vaguely novel it seems able to ditch the scuba gear once it makes landfall. |

Well, I guess that helps its usability over trying to walk around in flippers. Also, while it is impractical and requires a lot of wrist dexterity, I sort of like the touch of using the knife as a "thumb claw" for the forearm claw thingies. |

I wonder if it was a contest to see which of the -Zulu series machines they could make the ugliest. See my eventual comments whenever Rozen makes its debut. |

I've been wondering for a while as to where the bloody hell do the names for all these Zeon units come from. Half this stuff just sounds like they were throwing darts and an eye chart and they all had horrible aim. And does a MS REALLY need flippers? Wouldn't it just be more ENG efficient to just add some jets on it instead of kicking the legs over and over again? Aqua GM did just fine without them in Gundam Senki 0081. |

Not gonna defend the Zulu, but the Aqua GM probably isn't the best example. It had a number of mechanical issues; Hell, according to one book it was relied on for sinking submarines rather than fighting aquatic MS. That the Fed's only real post-war amphibious MS development was making better versions of the Zaku Marine Type probably says a lot. |

Katoki's design of the Jesta, Geara Zulu and Zee Zulu seem to reflect a modern warfare motif especially by their firearm aesthetics, which look nothing sci-fi UC like and do not expect to be a beam machine gun. This also applies to the Zee Zulu's non integrated aquatic equipment as it resembles how modern soldiers would don their gear. These three designs should really just exist in their own little microcosm. Edited by Calubin_175, Oct 28 2011, 06:43 PM.

I disagree about the Jesta, its body design doesn't stand out that much in the greater GM line, and its gun is only a little bit more nowadaysish than most beam rifle designs. As for the Zulus, I think they fit in pretty well with the Sleeves' aesthetic, which admittedly is kind of a combination of classic Zeon and extra-Godwin WWII-looking touches. Most of the other designs just have fancier weapons because they're not grunts. |

hideous? I really don't mean to harp on this so much, but I really can't stand the Zulus. Even the Geara Zulu, which is the least offensive of the lot; it looks like the worst bits of the Zaku II and Geara Doga blended together and run through the Katoki stretcher. The legs are too long, the torso too short, and arms too gangly, and something about the helmet design really irks me, like the Zaku FZ's done much less impressively. It doesn't help that the Sleeves' trademark decoration I feel only looks good on like, three units tops, and none of the Zulus are among those. The Zee Zulu's ugliness aside, I like that it can ditch its aquatic gear, if perhaps a bit of an 'oops!' if they need to use that same gear to retreat. But first off; can those feet even bend back far enough to make use of flippers? And if the claw arms are meant to be purged in land combat, why not put something more useful for aquatic warfare in their place, like torpedo launchers or the like? |

You guys will definitely have to screencap the flippers in use for me, once Episode 4's out. It is fairly odd it doesn't have a torpedo launcher or something; the Zaku Marine Type/Zaku Mariner loved 'em. |

"So we lost the schematics on every single aquatic use Mobile Suit we had to date, including the best one on record -- the Z'Gok-E?" "That's how it looks sir?" "Well get some free guys together and slap some shit on a Zulu. That's just as good right?" |

Amusingly, that seems to be the case. In the Return of Johnny Ridden MSV manga which is only like 2-3 years prior to CCA, it seems a lot of OYW tech, data, etc was lost somehow. http://www.mediafire.com/?grsrwdn141qsh Though since it's been ages it could just be the Zulu performed better with flippers and junk due to better generator, output, frame, etc then the old aquatic suits. Or the old models simply no longer existed/were really available to a bunch of stranglers. http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/4686/msvr1303.jpg http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/7118/msvr1304.jpg |
