Shamblo

Model Number: AMA-X7
Overall Length: 77.8m
Overall Height: 31.8m
Base Weight: 196.8t

Quote:

A huge mobile armor that has been developed over a span of six years by the Zeon remnants on Earth, based on a weapons plan designed by Haman Karn's forces during the first Neo Zeon War. Thanks to the assistance and technological support of the Sleeves, it employs a psycho-frame, the latest in psycommu technology. Its large-caliber mega particle cannon gives it overwhelming offensive strength, and it can use its reflector bits to form an impenetrable defense. This giant machine has a hybrid underwater/surface propulsion system, which combines Minovsky craft and hovering systems, and despite its appearance it has excellent stealth and mobility both on land and in the water. Its pilot is Loni Garvey.

Setting aside the hilarity of a bunch of forgotten remnants putting together a threatening Mobile Armor, they were working on this thing for the last 6 years, aye? Did they just shrug and get back to work when Char tried to drop Axis on them?

Hey, it was all for the Zeon cause.

By which I mean killing as many defenseless civilians as possible.

I always find battles against big immobile Mobile Armors boring as hell. There's nothing less exciting than shooting at an invincible stationary target. I'm hoping the Shamblo does more than slug around on the ground and use it's reflector bits to protect it and spam it's "Ima chargin mah lazor" cannon.

Regardless of how it performs, at least there's plenty of other grunts appearing to keep me busy!

The profile claims it has 'excellent' mobility; then again these profiles still claim Zeon OYW machines aren't horribly outdated, so I'll wait and see, especially with something only one letter away from 'shamble'.

Also lulz at using bits in the atmosphere, but I guess Puru beat them to it.

Hah. I never even thought of that. XD

For some reason I always keep reading the name as "Sham WOW!".

So now that most of us have seen it in action, how does everybody feel about it? It did not live up to what the novel battle portrays it as, I was completely unsatisfied with what happened.

It was, unsurprisingly, as stupid as it looked.

And here's the lineart I've been too lazy to post:

I thought the Shamblo was as fun as Mobile Armors usually are (it should be noted that I dig them most of the time- with a few exceptions), but I wish it had gotten the chance to fight some worthy grunts before going down. I would have liked to see it go crazy with those arms on land.

All it would really have to do is massive arm sweeps and slam them into buildings.

Someone really should have wanted their 6 years back. It was total crap that did almost nothing. In the real world, the scrap heap would have been carpet bombed 10 minutes into the episode.

I dunno, the Gundam series has strayed away from bombing runs for the most part. Maybe they're all too shaken up from how that Gouf Custom in 08th MS Team manhandled the bombing squadron... but he still didn't inflict that much damage on them.

With all those reflector bits, I'm sure any attempt to bomb it would've been sliced outta the air by Newtype Magic.

But yeah, the Shamblo did not Shamwow me.

The bits wouldn't do much against beams. Plus they were getting tossed around by only the impact of the beam magnum several hundred yards away.

They don't use missiles much due to minovsky shenanigans, but a carpet bombing is just a carpet bombing.

Surprised they couldn't build a panoramic cockpit for this, I guess it would have gotten in the way of those round cylinders that come upwards.

I'm more surprised the Zeon Remnants could afford to assemble this thing at all, let alone for how little it lasted.

It did what Zeon does best: kill helpless civilians. I'd say it was a huge success.
