The changes to the Zaku I Sniper Type from the original version we're familiar with are subtle but neat. I'm not sure what all the little spikes on the left shoulder are for, but I kinda like them. I'm also fond of the off-center command antennae on the head.

I find myself rewatching the battle scenes from Episode 4 and just being impressed with the Zeon Remnants combat performance in general. Then again, it didn't look like too many Federation soldiers were giving it their all. I mean that Guncannon D just stood there as they picked it apart!

Probably in shock that such ancient junk was doing that much of a slaughter.

The man who controls space and time.
Sad to see the Zee Zulu intervene between the battle of Byarlant and the Zogok. It obvious to what the outcome would have been, but atleast it made an attempt.

After watching the Byalant mop up the Remnants again, they did at least manage a few hits on him. I'm kinda sad that they didn't show who survived/who made it out. Maybe they'll finish that up in Episode 5? I know there were a few Remnants that weren't confirmed KIA via the screentime.

I seem to recall the Fed radio chatter afterwards saying the rest of the Remnants had been mopped up, so I'm just assuming the Byalant gave the rest of them what-for off-camera, that Efreet especially.

With an arm disabled by the Sea Serpent and one of the main thrusters blown off by Kirks, the Byalant was honestly far less of a threat by the end of the battle. Still, an operator does mention the Remnants were mopped up, so the Torrington defense units and the Jesta did their jobs.

There could very well be a few stragglers left next episode if they want to recreate a particular novel scene. It'd be pretty fun for the Efreet Schneid to have survived episode 4, just to meet the Banshee's claw. I'd almost forgive Bandai/Sunrise for having created the Schneid at all.

Let's look at the Mobile Suit production years:

Zaku I Sniper - around 0080
Desert Zaku - around 0080-83
Desert Gelgoog - around 0080-83
Zaku Mariner - around 0084
Capule - 0087
Gallus J -0087
Gallus K - 0087?
Efreet Schneid - around 0081-83

The Zaku I sniper is listed as 0080 and its original faction as Zeon Remnants. I am not sure whether they're specifically referring to the antenna type, which suggests that this variant may not have been available at the California Base battle in 0079, unlike the regular MS-05Ls. The Dowage is still a 0079 MS, and the Desert Gelgoog and Desert Zaku were made between 0080 and 0083, before the end of the Delaz Conflict.

The Efreet Schneid's original production date is 0081-83, this may hint that it is derived from the Nacht's data. Of course, later it is upgraded with Gundarium and such. Its faction origin might be Zeon Remnants.

The Gallus J and K are 0087 along with the Capule, so that is consistent with the claim that Axis had their stock of mobile suits at least a year before the invasion. The question mark on the Gallus K poses that it might have been modified in 0088.

The date for the Zaku Mariner seems to match those of the Hizack and Galbaldy Beta prototypes.
