Well got back from the hare shoot to find the mail. No bills for once A couple of cheques for the DVD and a letter from the DMQ.I have to attend a re-briefing on the 24th April to continue as a witness until then I can continue as an accredited witness. So the changes are upon us. If you now register you will allready be on the new system of all 3 stalks by an A.W. So if your's is underway GET IT DONE and GET IT SUBMITTED.(think if you were registered before Jan 2010 the old rules will apply but not sure for how long its all got to be changed by June 2010. |

From what I gather the main changes are a new portfolio layout. A.w's already submitted correct paperwork on the whole. I looked over a lads paperwork on Wednesday and his 2 C.w.'s evidence was over done on the whole apart from on the main bits 1.2,2.6,3.4 and they hadn't even asked them. An immediate failure on that section A waste of time and (money) he may have had them free but the expense of getting there and a day off etc was wasted. This is why A.w's are to do all 3. He would have posted his work only to have them sent back, and scrutinised harder second time around I would fear. |

Well went to the re-brief yesterday and it was on the whole a very enlightening and answered those questions we were wondering. Approved witnesses are now registered to assessment centres and can now be quality controlled and even struck off for mal-practice. This alone is going to tighten up the system. Other changes are more subtle. 1 is we now have to write less if points are observed, but the candidate is likely to be questioned further by the assesors over the phone. Which in turn means knowledge will have to be taken in and not just known on the day. I think all in all the changes are for the best and the bar has been raised and quality more assured. The changes will only affect candidates who register after 31st may 2010 before that its just the same as now. If you have any doubts about the new system apply now for the old which allows 2 credible witness's. |

another change is that candidate must know how to fill in a cull card, and do so. |

Just to further clarify and reinterate what JR says, if you are interested in taking your DSC2, by registering before the 31st May you will be able to complete the qualification under the old criteria, i.e. two "Credible Witness" stalks (a DSC2 holder) plus one "Creditable Witness" (called "Approved Witness Assessor" after 1st June this year). If you register after the 31st May all three stalks will need to be witnessed and written off by an "Approved Witness Assessor". The DMQ felt it was unfair to alter the agreed time of 3 years allowed to achieve your DSC2 qualification if the registration was before the 1st June, not to mention a breech of contract and therefore illegal. So if you think that you may in the future want or need the DSC1 & DSC2 you might just still have time to book and pass the DSC1 and then register before the 1st June for the DSC2. Then again you might feel it is all a waste of time, and you are entitled to your opinion, it's not as if anyone is insisting on these qualification already is it ? photopro |
