The alarm woke me at 5am this morn, out of bed, kettle on, toast toasting, rifle out of cabinet, boots and jumper on, out the door by 5.30am

Arrived at the wood 5.45, where i have seen the two young bucks i want to get asap, two hours later and i had not seen a deer,

Back in the motor drive for 1 mile to try another piece where i had not seen any young bucks this year, but worth a try while im out,

Parked up at the cabins, up the track onto a large clearing where you can see for 300 yds or so into a plantation, spotted a buck at 180yds, (the same one i filmed last spring)

nice clear shot but decided to leave him ant try for a younger beast, stalked on for 50 or so yards and walked into a nice cull buck, rifle up on sticks, safety off, squeeze, crack, and he is on the grass.

Not seen this lad before, guess he was kicked out and trying to find a patch of ground of his own.

Back at home and on the scales he weighed in at 15 kilo (cleaned) just right for the BBQ this wkend.
