This site has information about how badgers spread Bovine TB. The long survival rate of TB outside of the host, means that other animals can contract the disease very easily. As a note - TB can be be carried not only by mammals, but by ANY warm blooded vertebrate, although, as Pro says in a different topic, the strains are different. For the ferreters and 'dog men' among us, this means that our animals are also at risk from this disease, if they come into contact with an infected animal. |
