After many phone calls and invitations on both parts i managed to get myself down to Yorkshire for a stalk with danger mouse Andy, having never met before we arranged a meeting place and went out for an evening stalk, Andy took me to a farm he had seen two bucks on a while ago and managed to shoot one so he knew that there was a young buck still around there somewhere, as we pulled up at the farm i spied a buck some five or six hundred yards away feeding in a grass field beside a large wood, Andy said to take the lead and he would follow on behind me, the buck was two fields away feeding in a field surrounded by a dry stone wall so the approach was made quite easy, as i reached the open gate at the field the buck was in a doe had now joined him and they were chasing one an other as if it was august and the rut was on, as the chased about they jumped into the next field and started to feed by the time i had stalked out of sight down the side of the dry stone wall the buck had now bedded down, i got to about 70yds off the deer and got myself set up ready for a shot, i wanted him to stand up for a body shot so i gave him a bark i got his attention but he just carried on chewing his cud after several barks he stud up and gave me the chance of a heart shot, i placed the bullet a third of the way up his body just behind the shoulder and he dropped on the spot i reloaded and waited to see if a follow up shot was needed but there was no call for one as he was dead where he lay, i approached him and did all my checks then i did a level two gralloch on him that Andy complemented me on i was well pleased on getting my first buck to put into my portfolio, that's what this sport is all about meeting blokes like Andy who have a passion about what they do and enjoy there stalking as much as the rest of us, i cant thank him enough for all he did on Friday getting me a buck on my birthday he is a top draw bloke and i just hope the buck i have left for him when he gets up in June or July is still kicking around if not i am sure i can find him another. atb dave. *Monkey Hanger*

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? ....... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
