I was out yesterday evening for a walk around mainly looking for foxes but then I stumbled on a roe buck, his demise was down to the growth on his lower jaw. When I saw it I felt that I had little option than to shoot him. It looks like an injury that has become infected but anyone any other ideas?

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? ....... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

I shot a rabbit a while back, with a similar growth on its face - I didn't bother checking what caused it, just dumped the rabbit; foxes didn't seem to care, it was gone in the morning!
Location :- Hull

Never hit a man with glasses. Hit him with a baseball bat!

Don't let your mind wander - it's too little to be let out alone!

In all probability it is a cyst but as you would expect all animal get lumps, bumps - and cancers the same as humans.

Well finally the head has been prepared and my good friend Steve (Fallowmoor) prepared the head for me. I have had many requests as to the nature of this growth and can now confirm that it was all started from a tooth abscess, this had calcified and as you can see from the photo's was disfiguring his bottom jaw. There was a small amount of puss but this animal must have been in some serious discomfort. here it is..
