Just a quick note to say a BIG THANK YOU to Davo... Whilst I was on my holidays in sunny Scotland Davo was kind enough to take me out for a stalk, and what a pleasure it was to be with him again, his passion for stalking is phenomenal and his sense of humour is good too. Anyway we managed to get a nice little buck that will end up on my wall as my first ever Scottish buck, I've shot Reds in Scotland but never Roe so thanks again Davo. The story goes that we had seen a few does but no bucks, then whilst we sat it out in a high seat a couple of deer ran out of a copse, we both said that something had spooked them and just hoped that it would be a buck, sure enough 10 minutes later he came out, walked across the ride and Davo asked if he should stop it, I said yes and Davo barked at him, shot was taken and he didn't react as you would expect for a heart / lung shot, he slouched and walked into the woods. We waited five minutes and then went to look for blood, blood found and followed straight to the dead buck. The shot placement was bob on and the heart was blown to pieces. I was happy with that. We returned back to Davo's house, larded it and drove back to the holiday cottage and it was still light! Dave then suggested that using the deers head we lay a scent trail for the pup (Sika) I did this and took her out on the lead, straight to the start point and then followed the trail over a little stump and to the tree where the head lay. It wasn't far, not at all but it's a start and I'm now looking forward to starting this training with her. Once again thanks Davo and like I said I look forward to seeing you down here again mate.
