Right I have 2 clients over for 4 outings.
3 outings over and we have had luck....max's man has shot 2 does, mine has had an opertunity on all outings but has not yet pulled the trigger. Just bad luck this morning nothing stood right and both evening stalks bad light beat us..seeing deer but not well enough to hit the heart.
Now tonight on the way back and the 2 guests were bantering about a score of 2 -0(my chap was getting wound up) my chap asked what the plan for morning was.
I told him I would take him to a special place which has a high number of deer and I've been asked to cull 7 does.
BUT they have a fox problem and we would have to shoot any foxes on sight.
He refused so I said well I will take my rifle also to kill any we see as it is part of my rent.
He still refused so I said fine we'll go somewhere else then where the foxes aren't common.
The damage was now done. His toys were out..... *crying*
He would stay in his room while I took his mate out.
Saying he paid to stalk deer not shoot foxes?
I can to a point understand this but I explained a single shot will not 90% of the time bother deer.
He was adamant.
He would rather miss the morning stalk on the slim chance he might be asked to shoot a fox???
This is the first time in probably 600 or so outings I have had an issue.
Anyway I'm booked up till mid Jan so can do without clients who sulk.
Needless to say hes staying at the pub in the morning and max is having a lie in.

Sounds like a spoilt kid to me John. He needs to understand that in most places that fox gets shot first, nothing unusual about that at all IMHO. **huh** The thing is that he has also spoilt it for his mate too being a mardy &rse and all! *spank*

Does it really matter which he shoots, deer or fox? I'd rather shoot a fox than go home and not fire a single shot ***no*** At least his rifle wont take a lot of cleaning though *giggle*

It sounds like you better hand this one over to your Public Relations department John.

I'm sure Max will tell him to 'go fook yourself'! *lol* -angry2- -Fun1-

So this guy has paid for a deer stalk and kill.

But he is expected to either shoot or watch you shoot a fox that may cause deer to be spooked ?

I can see his point really, it like going to take your motorbike test but you will be using a car if one turns up.
Even worse, if you wont drive the car the bloke you paid to it with will drive you aound in it.

I don't agree Dave, I know that we all have our own opinions but who ever you go out with will always tell you to shoot foxes on sight, and thats just how it is. When people come with me I always tell them that foxes take priority. BUT last time I did this Madmanx saw and shot a fox, this spooked a deer who moved away from the shot, this brought him into our view and he was duly shot too! In essence if the fox hadn't been shot we might not have even seen the buck! *aaaa*
Robb has offered him a good chance of seeing some does, but told him that he needs to cull foxes too, (and for free! *Monkey Hanger* ) I just don't get why he is so upset about it myself.. *BB*

Its not a point of agreeing or not, JR asked a question, he got my answer.
If JR had discussed that other vermin may have to be shot too prior to the booking I dont know.
But if it was booked as a deer stalk and kill then that is what he should get.

I know it is peoples living and interest/hobby who visit the forum, but it still stands, if something is being bought you would expect to get what you paid for.

Imagine going Pheasant Shooting for a day only to be taken to a field full of pigeons and the bloke saying that these have to be shot first as we have seen them.

Point taken Dave, but imagine your own scenario, paying to go pheasant shooting then at the end of the day also being asked to go and do a duck flight! The thing is that this bloke is still going stalking, but IF they saw a fox then it was to be shot! Ah well I guess that we won't always agree but it wouldn't do for us all to be the same would it.

Not true at all dave.
He was offered an alternative ground to stalk which is productive and where foxes are scarcer and don't need to be shot..

I can understand Dave's comment and to be honest if the guy wasn't told about shooting foxes his reaction is understandable. However having stalked with John on a good number of different areas of his shooting land I can certainly confirm the deer are acustomed to the sound of gun shots, agricultural gas guns are quite common place which has a lot to do with it.
So really the problem is more down to a lack of trust or a lack of belief in what he has been told. As for sulking though and not going somewhere else instead, he is either infantile or he may just like foxes !!

Maybe a slight amendment is required on the booking form John ?

john charge the bug**r double then he wont be back lol. he should be happy just to have the experience of been out with pro like yourself john, having the chance to shoot a fox while out stalking is a privalage to most of us, your word is final end of, and he should understand and respect that if he wants to shoot deer.
