Well back now from 3 days culling. Wow is all I can say. 4 rifles have shot 58 head i think it was, I personally grassed 24 including a bull elk which weighed 650lb. I have some video and some snaps to upload asap. Elk I here you say in Scotland?? Well some escaped the park last winter in the snows and have been wild since even giving birth so real free roaming. If we saw any deer other than roe outside the wire they were fair game. Today we were taking fallow and sika only to be told at 1.30 we could take 2 hinds each (I had seen dozens up to that point), anyway i managed a couple before rain and bad light stopped play. My 7mm rem barrel was nearly melting at one point when I got into the middle of a big parcel of hinds. Finlight managed a lovely fallow buck this afternoon after a 1 1/2 stalk. I personally had some good stalks and shot sika, red, fallow, and wild sheep. Apart from today we had 2 teams extracting and 3 game dealers processing and chilling the deer in a wagon. All we had to do was shoot it stick it and call it in. Today we had to gralloch our own. Photos tomorrow. |

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? ....... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

The final total of 69 is a huge number and it looks liike you were very fortunate with the weather which no doubt helped, was the stalking paid, swapped, invitation or some other arrangement ? photopro |

A little of all pro. You had to be invited to stalk. It was to pay for at a reduced rate and the bull elk was a tip for me for taking a yank out for another agent. You can not buy this trip as the estate has been sold so the cull was a one off and if it was outside the wire it was fair game unless tropy standard. The amount of hoofed game was unbelievable and very varied. So were the amount of trophy beasts. The weather was fine and cold, then snow and cold, then rain all day on monday. |

They told me he was just cleaning off and wasn't usual clean till december. He would have been spared till then if the estate hadn't been sold on the 20th nov. So he had to go. Think i might send him to the taxidermist to have him cleaned and coloured. He is in hard antler and just starting to shed off his points. |
