Out this morning with my youngest son Jon on an estate near York. He managed to take this fine mature fallow buck at a range of about 200yards. The bigger of the two bucks in the party of seven(five does and followers) was left to get bigger. We saw over a dozen roe before the fallow got on there feet as the sun came out in the late morning. This is his second ever fallow and as you can see the smile says it all *Monkey Hanger* .

I will John but the last day I got out for a practise I was hitting bang on the inch and half at 100yds which should of given me zero at 200yds but at 200 I was still an inch and half over.So id just like to clear things up for myself before I even put a beast in my sights *Monkey Hanger*

Spin I wont be asking for advice as I already know a bit more than you particulary about seasons and sexes ( who did remove those wrong sex pics for you?) as for deer stalking we wont actually be stalking IE going out looking for them, we will as has been asked take the odd one when seen hence the .243 with condition for deer and fox, hope this clears things up oh sarcastic one, merry xmas to you.

A simplified definition. (nothing wrong in either).

Deer hunting/culling is a hunt where deer are taken for whatever reasons.....the table or damage done or to thin their numbers. This is undertaken in a clinical way. Maybe a wing mirror or bipod at a range where the deer is unlikley to be frightened by your pressance.
Stalking is the same but with sport been involved, by using field craft to approach the deer and kill it.
The sport is in the approach not in the killing.
Hope this clears it up a little.
Sportsmen see the deer as a large game animal worthy of great respect, Cullers see them as dinner or a target or vermin.

like sitting on your harris in a high chair is stalking then? or shooting an estate where the deer are semi domesticated ooh lets follow the carrot trailer? if I am asked to take a deer I will if it presents itself simple as, oh and that does not mean I do not respect it I will still look for a clean kill, much better than a stalker who cant get near enough and hitting the back leg of a deer, luckily to have it found ( still alive later in the day) but hey he was stalker so thats ok then eh? or shooting at a running target
such as boar and hitting it in the snout, but again thats ok in some books ( NOT MINE) respect should be total not selective

tootal pip

M.h you are a fledgling deer killer as you are in all your shooting and its a brave man who states he will kill everything cleanly and never wounds.
Don't pigeons and crows deserve the same respect as boar and deer??

Never said I did kill everything clean those are your words not mine, school not a strong point for you was it? what I did say is I try my best to give myself the best oppertunity to do so unlike those who are asked by so called stalkers to take innapropriate shots so as not to damage tha estate's meat!! and yes pigeons and crows do get my respect thanks.

And if your reply as usual is meant to demean then all I can sayis its just as well you have a dog it sounds the straight guy of the duo.

Those are your words not mine mike I never said cullers didn't respect the quarry i said the shot them for reasons other than sport. -angry2-

M.H. You started this yet again all i pointed out was you a. don't have a dog and b. will wound as many animals as the next man.
Even perfect shot situations don't go as planned, look at slims last post. A twig he hadn't seen.
So we are all aware things can go wrong.
And the sport of boar shooting do not comment or make comparisions when you know nothing of it.
A pigs snout is no different to a pigeons beak, a cripled animal.

So as usual you spout crap about things you know little of.
Carry on and cull/kill deer, in whatever method you like.
I think fallowmoors thread is not the place to sort this.
And mike just because 70% dont have a dog doesn't make it right.
They show little respect for the birds they shoot without 1.
I have 8 for many different kinds of sport.
1 for deer 6 for birds and 1 for rats.
And abroad they have dogs to track any wounded boar.
Thats respect.

If i am wrong then i will apologise but the way it reads to me is people that cull do not give the game respect..
So it boils down to the fact its the way people read things and sometimes get the wrong impression.......

Appoligy excepted. Maybe I should have added but still show them respect.
But you are getting hot and bothered about something you say you will never do.
Mike don't forget as yorkshiredeerstalking me and max get paid to take part in culls, and I assure you it is conducted with the greatest of respect so I kill deer for sport and for a job.
Happy xmas back and seasons greetings.
