Well - 8 , yes minus 8 *aaaa* , it was cool out there, snow covered the ground.

We met up and went in his truck, drove a couple of miles in the forest then got out on foot, hard walking on frozen ground,

Tim and his deer sniffer dogs led the way

not long and down in some short bushes, brambles a smaal group of fallow does , heads up letting us see there heads and necks,
Tim hand signalled and said go to that tree, take the big one

I crept to the tree , took aim,,bloody nerves gave a bit of thumping, steadied on the lower neck, boom, -angry2- nowt, they stood and stared at us
Bullet must of clipped a twig i think.
quick reload , boom ,Tim said its down, we waited a second , Tim stepped right to get a better look, then i spotted another peeping still at about 150 metres, i asked if he wanted another,

he replied yes,
boom, it jumped forward and ran in the bushes,

this is looking towards the brambles and bushes

Tim took the dogs around to the right, i was waiting to see if another showed or the hit one showed,

Searching for the Fallow

He found the first easy then followed the hounds and they soon were ducking in the bushes as there was the second dead on the ground.
The first had the top of the heart taken off from the front of the base of the neck and the other i took out the neck ,it went about twenty paces and dropped, this was a Doe and this years calf and when we gralloched it there was a young fetus anout 6cms showing, he said how early the rut was this year

Her i am with the first deer i have taken , a big tick off the to do list *dance*

I thought the same, but to be fair if it had been that small it would have been a good reason to cull it.
the camera can lie.
And welcome to the club slim

Yes Billy, it sure tests out how cool you can pretend to be,and when the first shot missed, f***, the quickest reload was called for, hope you get on them soon *Monkey Hanger*

Yes the deer looks small as it was 6 feet on away from his hand.

Like i wrote, bloody brilliant.
