When pictures are taken at night with an IR camera, are they stealthy? By that I mean, can you see where a camera is hidden in the dark when it takes a photo? Any recommendations for tried and tested kit? Thanks |

One for me I think. Infrared is an invisble part of the spectrum, and although the visible is normally required to take a conventional picture with an IR sensitive system it is not. So how is it removed ? By filtering the light source with a deep red filter the IR light is allowed to pass through whilst most of the visible is absorbed, it can only ever be "most" since filters and IR light sources are not 100% efficient. This is why you can sometimes see a glow or a low level flash this is the escaping visible light. I have an IR source for my night vision sight and it is amazing how much coverage it gives. There are a number of Youtube posts which detail how to make an IR camera from a conventional one by removing the IR filter ( removing IR light) from the sensor and instead applying an IR filter (removing all the visible light) to the incoming image. photopro |

Bought one a couple of years ago, took it out the box once, half read the instructions, put it back in the box where it has been ever since. Too worried about it getting nicked, I guess I just need to sort out a decent lock and chain then I am good to go. No rush though.... |

Yes mate I use one, a wildview infrared xtreme. Easy to set up and provide reasonable videos and good pictures. I ordered mine from the states but you can get them for £99 from the UK based Bushwear website now I believe. You do have to use high qulity batteries or it tends to refuse to work. Here are a few vids from mine: ![]() ![]()
