Hi mate dont know for sure how much they you want to shop around . They do come in different shot sizes. And cartridge lengths from 2inch to 3inch magnums. Some people even use a 410 for game / pigeon shooting. |

Shotgun cartridges are currently on the way up All Calibres Due to Lead & Plastic Prices 12 Bore is normally the best value as more are made in that calibre 410 prices depend on how many are used in your area As to what dealers stock But if possible try one before getting a gun As aware of many who wish they had not bothered with the calibre BOB/R |

ri rat kill What prompts you to buy a 410? They aren't very popular and for very good reason. They don't have the hitting power of a 12g or even a 16g for that matter. You will be under-gunned if you shoot along side anyone, for instance if you were pigeon shooting. In the past they were always considered to be a young lads gun. If you buy one your cartridge choice will be limited and I am sure (as clubshot said) you will wish you hadn't bought it. The big disadvantage of any shotgun is the noise they make, you are going to have the bang without the wallop! photopro |

I only ever use mine for when im using ferrets to bolt rabbits, when netting the holes is a impossible task. They dont damage the rabbit as much as the 12g |

Although .410 used to be thought of as a kids/begineers gun, the level of skill required to shoot one well means that they are only really of any use to a competent shot. They have low recoil which is ideal for begineers but have a limited range and a small shot charge which in turn gives a limited pattern and requires more acuraccy to use well. Lots of experienced shooters use .410's. |

Only tried a shotgun once, went with a m8 called Darren, clay-shooting. I was supervised by a tutor, had about 10 clay's & missed the lot
:( Used my mates Baikal under & over 12bore, Russian made budget gun. Tutor asked if I was a target shooter, told him "yeah, target archery & airgun". He said this is a different ball game, your trying to aim at the clay, cant do that, you need to shoot it by instinct & prediction. My mate Darren had a go at archery, arrows all over & in the Grass ^_^ He did hit all HIS clays, though. His dad was a regular game shooter, rarely did clay shooting. B) |
