Did anybody get out today with their gun, dogs, ferrets?etc...
Maybe, unlike me, you had all listened to the weather reports *lol*
Went out, decided on a change of tactic. Rather than trying to stalk through the woodland & shoot up into the trees at Pigeons arses, I opted to hide in a hedge bottom on the edge of a field. Down come the rain, followed by the hailstones!! :(

Ten minutes passed, so did, thankfully, the foul weather *good*
2 woody's came down to "peck" at the grass on the field, about 30-40yds away.
"Thwack", down went one, courtesy of my AA s410 :P
Other woodie strutted about, second shot missed but spooked it, it flew up into the trees. Across the field, a "murder" of squaking crows (or Rook's?) took to the trees, 200+ yds away. Popped out to retrieve dead bird. Soon another woody landed, along with a Song Thrush, which decided to hop around directly in front of the woody!
When the Thrush departed, the Woody also departed (its life) as a .177 Daystate FT hit it. Black clouds & very heavy, persistant rain arrived & Baz + two dead woodys rapidly departed. Took my camera, the 2x AA re-chargeable batteries within it didnt have the power to even extend the lens!! Lesson- keep yor batteries regularly charged!!
Farmer has given me permission to put up my pop-up hide in a particular field corner, when its not peeing it down I'll give it a try, it is waterproof but drying it is a problem :)

Turned down a trip shooting woodies on monday, because i thought my mate was shooting on his fields of rape, and with it been so high in crop i didnt think id bother with it,
Only to find later that he was on some freshly sown peas -HB-
And he'd shot about 70 that day.
I wont refuse again
