Make sure you get the best china out. And dont forget the biccies. have you got yourself a gun cabinet yet. when he came to check my cabinet he tried to pull it off the wall. When I showed him the 120mm sleeve anchor bolts he gave up. I also had a little safe that the wife picked up from woolworths for £15 bolted to the bedroom wall. I keep my keys in there and also told him that there is enogh room in there for 4 boxes of cartriges. If he seen my selection of cartriges now i dont think hed be too impressed. anyway good luck hope every thing goes well for you. *good* |

Which police area are you in mate? if it's North Yorks one of the bobbies is Paul Duffield, top bloke and keen hunter too! He knows more about guns than most, but hey it's his job too! I think that he has shot for England and GB.. :o |

I'm afraid it is a wait Jamie, usually 3 to 4 weeks from the visit up here but could be quicker in your part of the world! Fingers crossed mate.. ;) |

Jamie you will know on the day of the visit if something isn't up to scratch or he finds a problem. He should confirm what his reccommendations will be before he leaves you. If this is not the case, there is a chance he will string it out, you could ring the firearms section of the police to check what is happening. If the certificate was a vocational requirement as DM could certainly say, it would be possible to expedite the certificate. Just think you can start looking at all of the shotgun adverts now Jamie because the chances are you with get your grubby mitts on one in the not too distant future !! *good* Welcome to the shotgun owners club. photopro

I had to wait a couple of weeks after the police visit before my licence arrived, id just come in about 9am after a morning wildfowling with Mark (Win22) when i saw the cert had came so it was back to Marks to pick up my 1st shot gun, i felt like some daft little kid at christmas! You should be allright, plod tried pulling the cabinet of my wall too, just make sure its firmly anchored in and perhaps smear grease all over the sides to prevent him achieving this, on second thoughts.... :D Good luck Jamie

supersharpshooter, As long as you have been above board on you application and have your cabinet fixed properly you should have no problem with a shotgun application. I certainly wouldn't worry to much. I have met many FLO's over the years and all have been fine the only one who was slightly anti in my opinion strangely enough was the one who dealt with neils first application.(He actually came round to talk to me) |

well feo has just left,he was more than happy with the fixing and placement of the cabinet and generally a really nice guy. he reckons i should apply for my fac soon and apply for .308 as there are so many deers in our area and also wild boar coming through now aswell
 he is also a keen shooter and he said he likes to see younger members getting into the sport
:D as for the cuppa and biccies he was only here for 25 mins and didnt even want one :o oh the only bad side is though that he said it will take him approximately a week to sort out the paper work and then estimated six weeks from today :( cheers for all the help guys *good* regards jamie |

Jamie what are you like? 12ft/lbs airgun to 0.308 Howitzer? I would honestly get some experience with a 0.22 rimfire before going any bigger. You will have fun with the shotgun though.photopro |

yea it wont be for a while yet
:D luckily there are two people that both are culling the deer in the woods behind me at seperate times so if i was to go for a big callibre then i would ask one of them to tutor me etc,i just cant wait to get a shotgun. ive found out that theres a clay club about 15 miles from me that do tuition and practice etc every day, accept sunday from 9.00 -6.00 so im going to see if i can get some coaching before i go out on my own
:) regards jamie |
