I had a stack of work to do today. I should have got stuck into it . The last thing I should have done is gone shooting. What did I do today? Yep, I went shooting.
I told myself I wasn't workoing today - some lame excuse. I didn't believe myself and I will be giving myself a right bollocking when I do arrive tomorrow.
Anyway did I enjoy the shooting, yes I always do, am I a happy bunny ?- nope, definitely not. It isn't anything Hawkeye my shooting companion said or did. Despite what I usually say about him he's actually a nice guy, hang on a sec - I feel a bit faint after typing that - it's alright I'm OK now. No it wasn't the crow hawk, it was my new Binelli.
A week ago I went to a local clay ground and shot some clays for practise, I say "shot" in truth I missed half of them. The gun that day jammed on numerous occasions, very frustrating. So during the week I oiled & cycled the action, gun between my legs point upwards, bolt rapidly worked up and down, are you getting the picture? It's a natural action for us lads and one we've all practised for years. *jerk* *lol*
The gun seemed a lot better so I didn't expect any further problems - WRONG !!
Today I got the gun to fire the three shots maybe twice and that was it. It jammed on the second shot but mainly on the third. It is very difficult to shoot when you are expecting a misfire, especially since Hawkeye was picking up everything I was leaving. We eventually shot 29 birds, with me accounting for maybe a third - no more. It seemed to be equipment failure day all round as Hawkeye's electronic crow call was playing up, that turned out to be a bad battery terminal. *aaaa*
That meant we had to resort to good old-fashoined crow calls, a chance to try my newly purchased one out. My first efforts had the makings of a stage act, the sound being more like an asthmatic duck with a speech impediment (or would that be a quack impediment ??) anyway we progressed over the next few hours to a mildly amusing but fairly realistic crow. *good*

So it's back to the dealer with the offending shotgun ASAP. Yet another skive off work, I'll have to think of a really good excuse this time, otherwise I am just not going to believe it !! *lol*

Never mind When hunting when things go bad they really do go tits up.
Heres an example.
Last week.
We got to our rendevouz,my gun lamp started flickering, every footstep was a flicker.
After 20 mins of fiddling with all conections hey presto it worked for 5 more mins.
Its starting to piss me off now so in a fate of desparation cut off all conections and routed the lamp direct to the battery pack.
Then the rain came down with force.
We finally spotted a bunnie ahead of us at about 80 yards.
It was a shot only my buddie could take with his 22 rim fire.
Cracking shot too straight through one eye and out the other.
Talk about rubbing salt into the wound.
He spotted another within 40 yards it was rothers turn with his rapid.
I took aim and my rapid made a girlie fart noise.
yes my bottle got knocked in the truck and had leaked all but air.
Now i am throwing a tantrum , nearly launching the gun into the hedge.
Anyway when I got home I checked my lamp on to another battery to check the lamp ,and blew the lamp completly. **angr**
And what made matters worse was my buddy still shooting like a demon.
So I have been down in the dumps the last few nights.
And then to top it off We whent out to a different location last night with my now filled up Rapid and a lamp that i borrowed to take some rabbits out.
Its only a small place but gaurenteed to see about 25-30 bunnies every time.
Not a bloody rabbit in sight,so we gave it have hour and gave it another once over with the lamps and whoops, mr charlie fox, we gave him a squeak and he came within 20 yards of us then was taken out by my buddie and the gaurdian angel that helps him to fire with precision accuracy.
Well no rabbits but charlie was a bonus.
Back we climbed over another fence to lamp another dog at 80 yards
Total count was two too my buddie and f all to me.
So Photopro and Hawkeye always remember there are others out there less fortunate than yourselves.
Hopefully I will have a chance to go out on the weekend and shoot millions of crows to compensate for my misfortunes *QQQ*
But there is always tommorw.
Keep your chin up

Hey Rothers, must be something in the air last night, I went out lamping with the .22, I also went to a place where 25 to 30 rabbits would be expected. I only had 1 shot, saw just 4 bunnies, 3 legging it and the one that I managed to stop! He was introduced to the ferrets when I got home.. *Freak* ***ferts***
I did expect to see many more though, never seen a fox on this land so don't understand what was wrong! :(
Oh well more for next time eh! *QQQ*
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? ....... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

The Binelli is going back MH !! As soon as I can spare an hour or so. I like the design of the Binelli, and the yanks buy them by the shed full. My only reservation with the Beretta is the gas recoil which is a far dirtier system blowing combustion crap through the gun. The Binelli problem seems to be the cartridge lift, although the shell exits the mag it stays parallel to the action instead of angling upwards towards the back of the barrel ready for the bolt to catch. The symptom is of a cartridge which is slightly too wide for the gun, the problem however could be any one of 4 or 5 different things.

B, agree the baretta's gas recoil is dirty but hey the sods work, mine has a cracked forestock, is rusted to hell, never gets cleaned is used week in week out and I can count on one hand the number of jams its had usually as a result of putting a cart through that I have previously dropped and had mud on it, put it like this when my urika finally goes to the place in the sky that dead guns go to (which wont be long), I will go and buy a new one the same day, now if only I could use it on my "posh shoot"
cheers MH
