CROW & FOX Killer BUT scared SHITLESS of DAREBEAR

Right lets start i rang photopro last week and we decided to go bunnie bashing on our local golf course last night....

Decided to meet up at 8pm as usual he turned up in his better half's freelander (but we used mine again) no suggestion of we will use this tonight and you can leave shell cases all over the floor...no f****** chance of that.... *aaaa* *aaaa*
Any how we decided that we could have picked a better night as there was a full moon and the amount of fireworks going of round us was really Spectacular.

It was so bright you didnt really need a lamp we only got 9 and there were hard going the only difference from normal was i took my .17HMR for Photopro to shoot as he had not used one before.
We also had a bit of a drama which was quite funny really on our 2nd time round we were coming up the last fairway and saw some yobbo's on the course they took of running we went after them and caught them up in the car park trying to open there car door. ***wist***
Brian called them over but when they saw the gun he was holding they nearly s**t them selves and just kept saying " im not coming near you with that thing in your hand" so i took it of Brian and he got out and asked them what they had been doing on the course. They said it wasnt them i had to laugh as they were still trying to get there breath back from the chase. ***wist*** it turned out they were just setting of fireworks.
Any how he gave them a lecture about how dangerous it was on there at night as we shot it on a regular basis.. *jerk* *jerk* and they might get shot.
Anyhow back to the shooting photopro was quite impressed with the HMR for its accuracy and the way it knocked them down.
He shot a couple with it and then used his ruger so i could have a shot its queer but every time he shoot's in my motor i find a ton of brass cases the next day all on his side.
*aaaa* *aaaa* *aaaa*
**sgun** **sgun**
One good thing about the ones we shot we did not bother paunching them as i want them to feed the foxes over the next few days dropped the first ones off tonight. **yahoo**

I wrote a "piece" on this about an hour ago and my PC crashed just before I posted it. "Oh dear" I said - NOT !!

I first saw a HMR at Monkey Hanger's before it became a work of art. As "Hawkie" said I was impressed with the HMR, (I'll take it off your hands when you are finished with it) but not with my first few shots.
The very light trigger caught me out and the rabbit I gave a "reverse mohican" hair style to, had something to show his wife and kids when he got home.
I also missed the following two but did finally hit two more.
The velocity of the HMR was awesome, the trigger pull / bang / impact is all virtually instantaneous making the time lag of the subsonic 0.22 ammo seem almost pedestrian. All this with no recoil either.
If we recovered 9 rabbits we must have shot a dozen or more since there was at least three which managed to escape.
As for the brass, it would be lean pickings for the scrapman since I didn't miss with a single shot from the Ruger last night.

I have no problem using the Freelander whenever we shoot - as you well know !!

P.S. I see you got most of my previous posting despite the computer crash - I took it out anyway.

I see what you mean Neil, and he's quite capable - I very much doubt I'd even get the mandatory shallow grave !! :(

The grade one yarn was still incomplete the youths were about to make an appearance. *good*

They were definitely safe in that respect !! *vomit*

On a serious note - the HMR was quieter than I thought it would be, but this is obviously dependent on the quality of the sound moderator fitted. Where it really scores is the extended range it is capable of, compared with a subsonic rimfire. The latter certainly needs an element of drop factoring in. Using high velocity would help to counter this BUT, 0.22rimfire bullets are known for ricochets and at high velocity boy do they ricochet!! HMR 0.17's don't - it's as simple as that.

Would I buy one? Yes I probably will, but I will still use the 0.22LR if only for the 10-a-penny running cost of the ammo.
