My wife and Daughter where sitting in the tree stand and you guessed it, a buck of a life time (which would have been her first deer)came out to feed 22 yards in the bean field next to her stand. She is shooting a 2 year old H & R 20 gauge single shot bull barreled shot gun which we purchased New the previous year, topped with a Bushnell 3x5 scope which was sighted in on 11/14/06 with 2 of the 4 boxes of shells that where purchased from same store at the same time as the 1 box I have issues with...Which left her with 2 boxes to hunt with plenty of ammo for the rest of the season...When she took aim on this deer, it had no idea she was there 20 feet in the air tucked behind a blind in a 2 man stand with my daughter,She placed the perfectly sighted scope onto the large Bucks' front shoulder area and pulled the trigger... Now to her surprise she didn't hear nothing but a click of the trigger with the hammer falling...She thought to herself she must have not loaded it with the excitement of getting into her tree stand with my daughter...So she quietly broke open the shot gun only to find the shell was in the barrel, at this point she thought maybe she didn't pull the trigger back all the way or something, not noticing the dent in the primer of this Brand New shell...She closed the gun ensuring both the hammer was pulled all the way back and the shell was in...She saw to her amazement that the BUCK was still feeding and had not noticed the click...She took aim again only to come up with the same outcome(CLICK)... Now she was pissed and took the shell from her gun again and tried another shell...you guessed it same outcome...she was able to do this with the entire box of 5 shells, all she had in that box (only box brought to the stand) Now all she could do was set and watch this Buck feed for the next 20 mins on persimmons next to this bean field...Upon Deer leaving she called me on the cell phone and you can imagine the words I heard for the rest of this day...Needless to say,I have kept the shells and want to see if you guy's can help me write a well worded letter to the Company I know they can't get her deer back but the ration of crap I had to hear, her frustration and anxiety felt in the stand that day is well worth more than one Box of shells to replace this disaster...I will gladly mail all but 1 of these shells back to them as I would like to have (1) shell for proof of this...also tried to fire several other name brand types of shells through this gun with NO miss fires...So please don't tell me that it was the shotgun firing pin or some other reason behind this...also tried to fire these in my Sons' 870 express 20 gauge Remington shotgun just to prove to myself it was the primer...same results...(CLICK, NO fire)...Please trust me when I say,"I tried to prove it was my equipment as I am a trusted fan of this company and own several of thier shot guns and purchase only premium ammo from them...Now let's see how they stand behind the product as this will be a determining factor as to how I do my business in the future...Please Drop me a Line back as my |

Deerhunter4, I dont think that you need put much more than you already have, it says it all but you MUST add in that you wasted (through no fault of your own) fuel or postage costs in getting the ammo, wasted fuel, time on the days hunting and pure frustration. You have a right in British law (But are you in the USA? if so must be the same) under the sale of goods act to compensation, but do not expect too much! Try adding something like this as a last paragraph :- You can imagine my frustration at the wasted time, money and not to mention a missed Prize Buck! I not only require an investigation and full explanation as to why these shells are faulty but also require you to replace the faulty goods supplied by you and compensate us for the time and money wasted through no fault of our own! I am looking forward to your reply Hope that this helps mate! :) |
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? ....... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!

Be careful Deerhunter4, keep the tone of the initial letter as that of a loyal supporter of the company who wants to continue being loyal. You can't claim for what might have been, and I would bet the company have a "replacement value equivalent to the cost of the faulty goods" clause in their fine print. However they won't want to lose a good customer and I would expect them to make a discretionary payment for your "time & trouble" in addittion to the cost of the shells. It wouldn't harm gently dropping (so not a threat) into the letter that you belong to several shooting forums, their members keen to see the outcome of this episode. Good luck ! *good* photopro |

OK HERE ARE THE RESULTS "Remington Quality Technician found that the primers were seated deeper than normal, just outside Remington process limits, but well within SAAMI industry guidelines...In addition, the firing pin indentions where .006 to .0065 inches deep,so the hits where on the light side." I want everyone to know that Remington has made this right with me in respect to Correspondence, Testing, and Compensation...I will not post or discuss the compensation only to say that it was shells of the same... I am proud to say that Remington has gained allot of trust, respect and much loyalty from this customer. I would recommend anyone to use Remington brand ammo and sporting rifles/shotguns in the future, not only because they have a great product but they also stand behind it in times of misfortune... Thank You Remington! :D Regards Paul |

Glad to hear the problem has been resolved. Anything associated with a product failure is better dealt with in a reasonable and considered way - as you did. I think too often folks wade in with all guns blazing right from the outset, a sign of the times we live in I suppose. Anyway well done Paul and happy shooting. *good* photopro |
