Well I decided to give the 12g a walk today and went to have a look round some fields where there is normally nothing to shoot, and as not to upset the apple cart, nothing has changed! :( Arrived at the farm and had a quick chat with the farmer, "nothing much about" he told me! (that would be apart from the 12 zillion Rats in his barns then!) Anyway, unperturbed I went for a walk, a few crows kept me interested but managed to keep well out of range for the shottie, I snuggled down in some high gause and waited, and waited, and waited.. Bollocks to this, I will go for a drive up to one of his other fields and see if there is anything on the stubble I thought. A short drive through the village and I pulled up at the stubble field and decided to walk the perimeter. Now as many of you will know, you can never fail to be supprised at the amount of variety of "game" on stubble fields, from Pigeons and Crows to Rabbits and Hares, various Partridges and Pheasants and lots of other bits and bobs, well not on this field, not even a bloody Starling showed it's self. (yes I know that Starlings are protected!) I walked the perimeter and up and down the field, not a sausage! (Wild Sausages are fair game! :D )

Where to now? The old trusted woodland beconed...Read on!

I pulled up in the van to see about 30 or so Crows making their way over the woodland only about 10 foot off the tree tops, several of the Black Ones were sat proud in the bare trees, A couple of Magpies were having a shouting match and even a couple of Woodies were sat there too, just having a rest from the mornings feed! Oh dear, I thought to myself, somethings going to die!
I made my way to the wood via a stock pile of shrink wrapped bailes and up a little path into the small woods, as I arrived a Magpie darted through the trees and up through the canopy into the open air! BANG! *aaaa* Come on down! *jump* Now as you might expect this was detremental to the Crows etc and I now had a woodland totally devoid of wildlife, even the two hen Pheasants chuffed off and they were as safe as houses.. No interest from me today!
I found myself a convenient tree, lit a cig up and waited, not for long though, a Woodie made it's way to the trees and as it came into range, crumpled under the weight of 32 gramms of no 6 shot, it flapped as it tumbled through the branches, but was pronounced Dead On Arrival! :D Soon after another Pigeon came crashing to the floor and then it happened! I saw a Pigeon screeming through on the back of a force 6 wind, lifted the gun and let it have my top chamber! EH! it hasn't fallen out of the sky????? I missed, thats the first one missed with this new gun! Ah well, never expected it to last anyway! *hunter+crow* A crow came too close and he won't be bothering any farmers again either!
Then the phone rang, "Andy, pick Josh up for me please!" "WHAT" Oh well, he is my son after all! Another days shooting over with.. Till next time..... -Pint2-

Changed that subject well mate! :P But to reply to your question, I think that I will look for a CZ due to the cost or look for a used one! There are one or two about but seems that I will have to travel. The upside of a used one would be that there is a chance that the screw cut and shortening would have already been done for the mod.. could even pick up the complete unit already zero'd too.. Although I would still zero it to me! Anyway, I will start looking after Xmas for one as I pick up the .17 next week! :) Had to pay for that, scope, mounts, bipod , ammo etc! :( .... Married man, mortgage, kid, new dog (next Sunday) Bills, WIFE! Need I say more? :D

Cant wait to get it though, have been practising my Fox Calling skills ... ***wist*** *aaaa*

No worries mate, bought one of those whistles that you have round your neck, bloody wife says that it drives her mad! With what? I ask!

As to can I handle the 223, well after shooting black powder in my youth, I would hope so! :)

Problem is, if I do have a go with yours, then I will only go out and buy one before I can afford one! :(

You know what I always say boy's....A bad day hunting is always better than a good day working.....

I went out again today deer hunting with the storms we have been having it has really got them stowed away into hidding.

My Wife and Son was sitting in a ground blind approx 200yrds. from where I sat in my stand...We had been there for almost 4 hrs and had seen nothing but the little sprigs of beans left in the cut field being eating by squirels and beautiful Red Cardinals and Northern Snow Birds...

It was time when I picked up the cell phone and asked if bellies needed filling and body needs reheated with temps at 17* degree's Fern. Hot Coco and Hot Biscuit sounded good to The 16 year old Boy of course at this age they are always hungry... So we closed the conversation and hung the cell phone's up when I seen a group of 3 Doe's crossing the field at almost 100 to 125 yrds away I am using a Remington 870 Express topped with a 3x9x50 Bushnell scope using premium brand sabot slugs that will reach out to about 75 yrds before dropping...i thought to myself I should give it a go and see if I could take some meat for the freezer...

You guessed it,
I also blew my chance here and came up short, shooting below her...Aw well last few days of season so thought I might get lucky...
Well that was all the deer we seen the rest of the day...ONE DAY LEFT in this season and I am done...We will be completed with our hunt tomorrow at noon so we can get back to the Hunting Cabin and start skinning out the rest of the troops downed game...My 10 point, and couple other deer hanging in cooler this far...Tomorrow Deer Drives *QQQ* will be going on every place so I am sure more deer will be added to the mix... Well I am sure at this point I am boring the crap out of the group so I will end for now...Look forward to hearing from any of you who wish to drop a few words........
Here is a Photo of My 8 Point in the first season

I am a professional pest controller, but it's not all walking fields shooting things. We also deal with pest insects, bird proofing, clean-up jobs, long term pest prevention and much more. It's a great job, but like all jobs you "take the rough with the smooth". Some times I get to go shooting, and the next day I might be cleaning tons of bird cr*p out of a building. The great thing is I don't mind the messy and sometimes back breaking jobs.....and I love the nice hunting-type jobs!
