I sadly missed my chance of joining the Elite Woodcock club yesterday.
just a handfull of members attended the shoot yesterday with just 4 guns and 6 beaters.
Not enough guns to place in the surrounding fields of the acre or so rough patch.
I was placed in one field all alone while the drive took place.
The whistle was called for the drive to start.
Whithin the first minute the shout of woodcock was yelled from the still heavely trash.
Bang there goes my first,I broke the gun popped in another no6 as the second came out Bang there goes my second bird nose driving back into the thick trash.

Had I had not broke the barrels and had a witness I would of been eligable to join the Wood cock club with lots of freebies.
I dont think I will ever get that close to joining again gutted :(
After the drive the club sec asked Had i shot anything, I explained that a woodcock had been left in the trash and that there was no way i could retrieve it.
Being the true countryman he is ,he gave me help in finding the fallen bird with the help of his welsh springer spaniel.
After the dog had retrieved the fallen bird the clubbed sec asked is this the first woodcock you have ever shot,No I replied I have another in my poachers pocket *lol*

So today I will be looking on ta net for some tasty recipes *good*

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? ....... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
