Where can I obtain a nice light weight tactical light for my SG. I am after one for under tha barrel.. for those who havnt seen it.... its a pump action winchester 1200...... I want one for rabbiting... so it needs to be good on juice... and not die in a matter of minutes. rechargeable is good. |

I still havnt found any place selling one.. even googled it.. and only came up with american sites. found that a normal light will break or cause the bulb to break..... and alot of bad experiances with that. Was also reccomended that I go for a LCD light? I think that was what was said.... but I cant find anyone selling them in the uk... hmmm please help |

I know its not really "tactical" but couldnt you use a logun lamp, they're pretty slimline and with its own battery pack wouldnt wear out straight away? |

Where would it go is my concern.. I couldnt put it ontop of the sg. and it would have to try to hang below .. hence why i think a tactical light will be the best.. I agree with the battery pack choice.. but I cant find a light to get that would be able to use it.. hmmmmmm but thanks for the reply.. I appreciate the imput. |

easy Jon, get one of the toarches from Neil and a roll of duck tape, job sorted!
:D No seriously though, LED is not the right type of light.. you need halogen, one thing I used to do was wear a headlamp, set it on your head for the angle when you were shooting, it does work! fiddley but it works! :) |

If all else fails, that was the option I was going for.. I would rather have it pointing where the sg is pointing.. but both have there distince advantages.. and if all else fails.. i will get one.. at least i know i can just odrer them form a online shotp. |

Jon, the main advantage is that where ever you look it is light, as you lift the gun you are pointing it to the light, and that is where your bunny is! makes sense! B) |

well yes... but you have to take your hands off the gun to turn on and off the light and that can get fiddly. where as... you can get a cord adapter for a mag light or what ever used.. adn have it on your sg... so you can flick it on and offf .. keeping your sg in both hands.... |

Jon, You can buy the surefire range of lamps in the UK, I think Edgars bring them in. But be prepared to pay pounds for the price you can get them in the US. |

Well ME being the Cheapskate i find a Surefire copy on Ebay has more than sufficient illumination for a good 45 yards in the dark to be able to see what your doing. Heck i EVEN have the 6v police torch which is good out to 30 yards i used on the Logun S-16 while rabbiting near Cramlington on Dungates land. The Surefire copy (superfire) is 9v takes 3 CR123 batteries (i use rechargables) and am MORE than happy with the range and amount of light they throw out and they are also SMALL and LIGHTWEIGHT no external power pack. I used a cheapo NV monocular to spot them and get closer then use the light. I think fleabay have them for about £15 - £20 if you shop about. I guess using a TRUE lamping kit though also means you can swap it over to other guns for going foxing and then cutting the need for multiple light kits :) Oh and IF you go the Surefire (superfire) path let me know as i have a pressure switch that will fit. Basically give it a sqeeze to turn it on and let go of it to turn the light off. You can have it if you need it. LG |
