Yes you can ask him Fergie! Only thing though is that he will have to come back to test it! Delays, delays! |

Fergie the position of your cabinet is no big deal - just common sense. It should be out of sight , so not in full view of a downstairs window. It should be securely fixed to a wall and/or the floor. A cabinet fixed to the roof joists in the loft would also be acceptable. As DM said fix it where you think fit chances are it will be OK. I have never had a cabinet location OK'd before fitting - and I have never had to move a cabinet. Don't worry Fergie the whole procedure is easier than you think. photopro |

You will get a visit from the FLO, but don't worry about it. I was going to wait for the visit to get a recomended location for a cabinet, but the draw back of doing that is that they will have to book a return visit to check it. If you think it is the safest place in the house, the chances are so will they. As long as it's bolted to a brick wall or concrete floor, you should be o.k. Any other problems or queries, ask away mate. (What they said  ) |

I know this might sound daft, but Pro's spot on with this one. You'll be thinking to yourself "7 gun cabinet? Miles too big......" 2 or 3 rifles with scopes plus a shotgun, and you'll be pushed for space in a 5 gun, and they get scratched and bumped if you're pushed for space. I have a 5 gun, and up to now I keep my 12g, .22lr, and air rifle in it. Now if I don't FAC the air rifle, then I can keep it in a locked case instead when I get my next rifle. If I get the air rifle tuned and get a .222 I'm going to be pushed for space :o . I may even need to store the SG in bits :( . |

Get them both at once! Save money! As far as I know, it doesn't matter how far away from you the land is. As for cabinets, I payed £100 for mine new, with a seperate ammo safe from B&Q for £20. |

If you are applying for FAC then yes, an ammo locker is a must. For SGC you don't need an ammo safe by law, but I personally recomend you use one anyway for safety (for twenty quid it has to be worth it). I have 2 young kids, so I keep all ammo in the safe. You don't have to though.I think you took something I said the wrong way. I just think all the hastle of getting the SGC you might aswell get both at once, and I think it just costs an extra tenner and 4 more photos. |

It is quite some time ago when I got my SGC and I had a regular PC come out to "interview" me. He asked me if I was going to go out and shoot anyone with it - well DER - was I really going to say yes if I was ?? He then asked my wife if I was sane or not !! . Oh yes she said as long as we release only one hand from the straight jacket when he needs to use the bathroom !! Actually she didn't say that but maybe something similar. Anyway two weeks after this the PC who came TOPPED HIMSELF !! I honestly kid you not. He apparently had gambling and wife problems and decided to end it all. I pity his family but who was the insane person ??Posted for the benefit of the new guys, the regular HW members have heard most of that story before. photopro |
