Not really built like a horse, more like a large Pony

Spent most of today limbering up to tackle cutting the conifer hedge and mowing the lawn. Just as i had convinced myself that Sunday was "lost to the garden" The phone rings, my friendly farmer was at the other end, I have about 70 acres of newly sown sprout plants and Hares are chomping their way through them!! (now this is the bit i liked) "Can you clear them out for us" ![]() Well, could i??? , you betcha fooking bottom dollar i could. I'll be there shortly, says i. " Great" says he,"and theres tons of pigeon on some laid barley, could you have a go at them sometime"? " Oh! ok then, if i have too". I met a mate down there about 5 o'clock and sure enough we counted 16 Hares in total, the field was covered in them. Three hours later I had five in the bag and lost another in the hedge bottom. all taken on the .22 rimmy , i think though, the field had been shot before as they were very skittish and very hard to get at within range. Anyway that should keep him happy and there's some left for another day. didn't get time to get on the pigeons, but the'll keep as well! I had forgotten just how much they stink when cleaning them, but the onions and tatties in the roasting tray will help take my mind off it. cheers Sutty ;) |
