Oh matron!
stuck in the mud!

*lol* *lol* *lol*

Anyone else ever got stuck, I mean really stuck!

I've have! Back in the early '90's while still in the mob in Germany, on a tank track in a training eara called Trauen. Went something like this:

Me (the driver): "That's too deep, let's find another route around it"
Bob (Full-Screw/Vehicle Commander): "No it's not, we'll get through that, just keep your speed up, low range and high rev's"
Me: "We'll get stuck!"
Bob: "We'll be fine!"
Me: "If your sure you want a risk it?"
Bob: "Go for it!"
Me: " OK, here goes! - Oh B*****ks!"
Bob: "We're ****ed!"
Me: "No mate, your ****ed, your the vehicle commander!" -Fun1-

A German farmer pulled us out with his tractor. Unfortunately, it twisted the chassis and wrote the Landy off! Board of Enquiry followed and I was right. Bob was in the poo!

If winning isn't important and it's the taking part that counts, why do we bother to keep score?

The most stuck I've been was also while in the army. Got my Bedford parked in a wood, cammed up, got communications going, tent up, scoff cooking - then it rained...... for 2 days non stop. Not too bad, but the truck sunk to its axles. We might have still got out, but the weather changed and got cold - it went down to minus 27, and everything obviously just froze solid, including the diesel in the trucks fuel tank!
It took us 3 days of chipping frozen mud away with a pick axe, before the REME would drag us out with a tank! That included pouring petrol and kero on the mud and setting fire to it to try and melt the mud again! That was '87 near Verden.
Location :- Hull

Never hit a man with glasses. Hit him with a baseball bat!

Don't let your mind wander - it's too little to be let out alone!

I was once shooting on a local farm which borders onto a fairly deep stream. Shooting with one of the farm lads we had done a few circuits round which involved going down and then back up a steep track.Doing virtually a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the hill, swinging round a big Ash tree with the stream waiting for you if you got it wrong.
No problems, until it started raining.
You also need to know I was in my wife's new Isuzu Trooper.
Starting down the decent I straight away knew it was a very bad decision. The brakes even feathered, causing the wheels to lock - and I had far too much speed to make the turn at the bottem. I geared down even further now all the wheels were locking - &rse now in sh1t and run mode. -Flush- The farm lad I'm sure was praying - loudly. I knew I couldn't steer with the wheels locked so risking everything I put the clutch in. We went in a fashion I can only decribe as free fall. *aaaa* The speed felt sickening. I edged the steering closer and closer to the Ash tree with visions of snapped tree on squashed car, car on roof in stream etc etc racing through my mind. The tree whizzed past on the near side and I spun the steering wheel hard the port. We slipped what felt like 100yds sideways - actually maybe 2yds - then the back wheels grabbed some roots right on the edge of the welcoming stream. We recovered some traction and burst into the clearing without so much as a paintwork scratch. We sat there for several seconds in disbelief !!
It shows how slippery the ground had become as I couldn't get the trooper out of the valley. I rang my wife and told her I would stay all night with it since I had several guns and ammunition. Next day it was still too slippery and we used a tractor to tow the car out and even this required several long chains as the slope was too steep for the tractor.
