semi-auto musket??; faulty cartridges

Out for a walk last evening, shot a few squirrels then noticed they looked as if a musket ball had gone through their chests, one at 15 m and the other at say 30 m at the top of a tree. Suspected the cartridges had balled up, back at the truck set up some cardboard at 30 m = little spread but the wad had gone through the box. The carts are Eley 6.5 fibre, will try out samples from the batch tonight. Bit odd as say 100 were ok, well I think they were - any ideas what caused them to ball up??

Usually the lead is too soft! There are some major issues with cartridges at the moment, prices are going up and up due to lead prices, they may have used softer lead..?

I went out again last evening & tried out one from two boxes as a sample on a cardborard box but just as I was going to fire a pair of squirrels ran by - couldn't resist it fired into the boxes and the pattern was OK. I now assume the faulty carts were left in a c/belt in the cab and got hot causing the carts to ball up.

Went off to the none game side of the estate for a walk, came within 10m of a Roebuck just stared at each other, finished off with x7 squirrels and a bunny.

Got home in the dark, wife had opened a bottle (sign of being a bit upset) reading a magazine. To lighten things up a bit I pointed to a model and asked,"could you buy one of them for me?" She took a sip of her wine and replied," are you sure you have enough time for her with your shooting?" - time to take the dog for a walk.

Cheers lads - I thought it was all going well after spending a week in a squeeky caravan with my wife, teenage son + puppy - where she said, "no - I can't relax" every night.

We got home sent the lad off to air cadets - ran upstairs to 'catchup' *aaaa* but the puppy followed and keep trying to get on the bed - yelping away, now she said," I can't concentrate" - just ignore him. Then he crawled under the bed and started growling - I said, " just imagine its me" -Fun1- -Fun1- yes well !!!

While on Holiday I didn't realize what a 'babe magnet' puppies are women coming up to me, bending forward to play with the pup I carried - melons galore, It reminded me of working as a butchers boy - holding the basket low so all the women had to bend over to get their meat out
