Well I passed all my theory tests.......... even the big final one.. I passed all confined water tests.. ie in pools... and passed the drysuit pool as well. I now look forward to 6 dives.... 3 per day... on the 22nt and 23 (easter weekend) < Neil will kill me now.. and then I am certified as a dry suit diver..........open water. so I cant wait... I got a few more tests to take later in the year... like night diving, enriched air, and deep water diving.. So I cant wait... HERE is the interesting bit... and I wont complicate things for non divers... Anyway I was in the pool and they inverted me (turned me upside down) filled my legs with air in the dry suit... however My regulator (mouth piece required to breath)broke in my hands.. it went onto free flow (didnt stop throwing air out at a high rate of speed...) < VERY DANGEROUS Anyway I completed my routine checked my air ... signaled to my instructor there was a problem... which she didnt notice.. because she thought my drysuit was letting that air out...... and told her to go up immediatly... when we got to the surface... she was shocked that I stayed calm.... breathed off of it easily... and kept all the pieces... I got bonus points there... :D it was a GREAT time.. and it let me know that in a emergancy like that.. I can act calm and safe... I was kinda greatfull it happened..... ;) hmmm kinda... lol :D |

it was a GREAT time.. and it let me know that in a emergancy like that.. I can act calm and safe... I was kinda greatfull it happened..... hmmm kinda... lol not bad, as regardless of depth if your heads under you tend to panic,so well done, now bare in mind you where in a nice warm pool and relatively safe Consider being 50 meters in cold dark conditions getting your inflation valve on your suit to stick open?it wont dissengage as its "flowing" you are hanging onto a wreck for grim death, trying to kick your legs back below you, then being forced to "let go" and away you go BACKWARDS? happened to a mate of mine whilst diving the rhonda in the sound of mull, he "survived" in fact he had no problems whatsoever!!! his screaming on the way up took care of his lungs! lads in the boat reckoned he cleared the water when he "arrived" at the surface, after that he serviced his kit a little more dilligently, I take it that by doing 3 dives in a day your depth will be restricted? what to? and where are you doing them? quarry or sea? as the condition of the sea in march can be and usually is poor, also as I have not much experience of padi what does open water allow you to do? can you dive alone or with another diver with the same qualification or do you have to be "supervised"? keep it up cheers MH |

I will be fully qualified to dive in open water.. but should follow the rule... dont dive alone... although there is no restrictions to say that I cant... I just wouldnt. I can dive with anyone with a qualification.... they could be a rec diver.. or a advance or dive master.. it doesnt matter as long as they have a dive cert... for there safety. I bought my BCD already and I bought my octupus..... at a heck of a deal... I am diving in a quarry... to a depth of about 12 meters.... -16 meters (depends where we go in there) I will obviously have to chart and watch my RAT.... (diving term not a pest.. honest!) why do you fancy taking me somewhere nice... I will be restricted to a depth of ?18 meters... I believe... but once I do the deep dive with a instructor... (or someone who is qualified.. ) will gotta check... I can then dive deeper.... but I think they will have to sign off my padi cert... so will see as for your inflator hose/valve getting stuck... you couldnt pop the release... I would have seen if my buddy was heavy enough to hold me down.... and made a accent slowly.. obviously no kicking or inflating the bcd.... anyway your friend was very lucky indeed. obviously his Csar worked a treat.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH what depth was that.. and for the record.. being upside down.. even in a pool but against a wall. which was a tight conditon... (ok didnt have a terrible distance to asend) was still a bit of a surprise... expecially when your facing the pool bottom.. and watch your reg explode... the front dust cover came off... which hit the valve and that just went onto free flow... I got so many appologises it wasnt funny.. but I laughed. because I knew i could always signal out of air..... and use hers if I needed to ... if I managed to dump all mine.. or do a Csar like your friend.... I dont panic.. that really only makes things worse so how long have you been diving for... and what do you dive.. recks. food.... I really want to do this for lobster and oysters... (hmmmm oysters) and of course for fun!!! ps who did you do your diving with.. |

been diving for the best part of 30 years have barely done any over the last two however, hoping to put that right this summer, and do a bit of lobby bashing 10 mins from my front door?but have bad knees that I blame on diving, I used to do a lot of silly wreck diving!it was not unknown to do 3 40meter plus dives a day? and your cartlidges dont like nitrogen? the clubhouse is littered with my "finds" portholes, wheels, bells, lamps, telegraph, and bogs and sinks!! over the years have obtained the lot, have even found pistols and ammunition have lifted boats, motorbikes, cars, vans, fitted parts to dock gates ( until i was reported by a commercial diver from thornaby)" twat" I have dived the red sea many many times, I have dived off every west coast of scotland island been to skye so often actually get put for free and free air while there!! ( get your hands on "dive the west cost of scotland" a scoobie doo vid OI am on that diving the port napier at skye, I am also on a vid produced to promote diving in gibralter, they do the rounds so you should be able to see them easily enough, I am a trustee of hartlepool divers , a good club, make that a VERY good club we would have trained you ( to BSAC) sports diver for FREE we make you join the club which costs £90 course starts oct ends march/april and your membership fee covers you for 18months ie till the april the following year, so get your qualification look for a bsac club scarborough always had a good one? and the chuffin world is your mussel oh and if you fancy a dive off hartlepool give me a shout I can take you out to wrecks or scenic/ lobby's I have my own purpose fitted dive boat,( dont laugh the underwater life off hartlepool is amazing just needs the right conditions) the life above the water is amazing as well (specially on friday nights?) cheers MH |
