what a dick! **angr** this isn't just about people using cars it's about 1000's jobs in many different industries are you going to carry thousands of tons of goods that can only be transported by road these fuel prices wont just effect jobs they will also effect nearly every product that you use from day to day your a so called lorry driver you should understand the effect on every part of the road haulge industry and in turn what that effect will have on every item they transport and that is just one industry to name just one

Yes you are a DICK!

wake up and smell the roses how would you get the products to the supermarkets the medicines that save lives to the chemists the doctors to the sick the post to the addressies not all food is produced locally even if you improved the rail it still couldn't deliver to all the places it needs to
all the rural individuals who work in towns because there isnt enough work locally would be out of work because they couldn't afford to get to work etc. etc. etc. do you see the picture yet
the old people who live in rural locations who are on state pensions who's only access to shops and medical care are by car which runs on fuel thats getting so exspensive they can't afford to run there cars
parents who have children who have medical conditions that may require imediate A&E attention but can't get there so everyone is calling the ambulance service but who woulod be massivly over stretched is the picture getting any clearer
food would get so exspensive due to the rising transport costs that families on low incomes couldn't afford a good diet for there children

I don't think your idea of fuel rise sounds so good does it

transport things by rail and keep travel by lorry to a minimal amount *good*

make petrol realy dear to buy and people will bunch up in the same car instead of one car one person

it used to make me made siiting on the edinburgh bypass seeing so many
cars with one person in them if they all got together and shared there could
be as much as half the cars on the road and share the cost

why are us as humans so stupid ?????

ooooh and it makes me wonder !!????

our parents and grand parents managed it days of old just fine so dont
preach on it dont add up

fuel needs to go to 2 pound alitre very soon to make people get a grip and realise
the effects its having on our planet and animals on it

***crylaugh*** you need to get out more and look at the bigger picture jane doe was right you really are a neanderthol stuck in the outback *lol* there are a lot of people out there that depend on transport to live until they think of and implement a solution this fuel price increase if it caries on will not only cost jobs it will cost lives instead of the goverment crawling up the americans arses and spending money on war we should be investing in solutions and alternative fuels but until that is in place this is an imediate problem that is having a massive effect on everyone now!

no need for all the traveling we do thes days

Was that your name on the Stead Hall list there Kirky ?

There may come a time when fuel usage is rationed - in a way price hiking does this anyway - I for one could not do my job without traveling.

Fuel costs are made up something like:

If a litre of petrol costs £1.10, it comprises 50.35p in fuel duty and 16.38p in VAT. The wholesale price of the fuel is about 42p, leaving a profit of about 2p for the retailer. It is predicted that a barrel of crude will cost $200 by early next year - it is currently $135, all this at a time when the oil producing multi-nationals have posted obscenely high record profits, Shell has revealed a profit of £13.6 BILLION.
Don't forget the government could easily reduce fuel tax. You even pay VAT on the wholesale price and the fuel duty COMBINED. Reduced fuel duty would still be recouped since the money folks saved would be spent on other living essentials most of which are also taxed.
Ultimately ministers aren't really bothered about your average man (or woman) in the street - until election time. They are sitting on healthy incomes, index linked pensions and generous expense accounts.

What time does the revolution start ?

also interesting "it comprises 50.35p in fuel duty and 16.38p in VAT." so they are taxing use twice! we really are a nation of idiots!
