When i was a kid we used to make arrows about three foot long and stick one end in the pouch and rest the rest in the forks, pull back the elastic and off they would go .They used to go for what seemed miles but we seldom ever found them.Thinking back its a wonder we never found anyone laid out with an arrow in there back!!!!!Eh the things you used to do when you were kids---------------- |

We used to make "Throwing Arrows" when I was a kid. A piece of bamboo cane, slim flights added and a weight, usually a nail in the tip. A knotted string could then be wrapped once round above a growing node the knot keeping the string in place. You would be amazed how far you could throw the thing with reasonable accuracy - still lucky we didn't kill anyone though. I once made a crossbow out of an old GAT and some 1/4" elastic, again bamboo nail tipped bolts, can you see a pattern forming here...........?? photopro |

The best "Catty" that we ever made was great, we bent a silver birch over and winched it down and secured the string to the ground, we then bent wire and pulled the whole thing backwards, the bent wire flew over the hospital and out of sight, where it went no one knows. |
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares? ....... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
