CHICAGO -- Beau Bennett scored the lone goal in the shootout, and the Pittsburgh Penguins rebounded after giving up a two-goal lead to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 Thursday night. Sidney Crosby, Derrick Pouliot and Joe Vitale scored in regulation for Pittsburgh (1-1-1). Chicagos Brandon Bollig shovelled in a rebound from a scrum in front of the net with 6:53 left in the third to tie it at 3 and send it to overtime. Patrick Sharp and Ben Smith both scored for the second straight game for the Blackhawks (1-1-0). Crosby, whose career has been punctuated by games lost to concussions, was struck by the stick of Chicagos Adam Clendening in the final minute of overtime and dropped to the ice. He got up slowly, then skated to the bench on his own. Crosby was Pittsburghs second shooter in the shootout and missed on a backhand attempt. The Penguins Tomas Vokoun and the Blackhawks Nikolai Khabibulin played the entire game. Vokoun finished with 30 saves through overtime and Khabibulin, who rejoined the Blackhawks as a free agent in the off-season, had 27. Sharp opened the scoring on a one-timer 5:19 in. Pouliot scored a screened power-play goal midway the first and Vitale connected late in the period to give Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead. Crosby made it 3-1 at 4:19 of the second, then Smith cut it to 3-2 with short-handed goal midway through the period. Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa has an upper-body injury and will not be available until the final game of the preseason at the earliest, coach Joel Quenneville said earlier on Thursday. NFL . Despatie, of Laval, Que,. played it safe with his dive list, posting an average degree of difficulty of just 3.2 throughout his six dives. He placed ninth with a total score of 458.55 for his efforts and easily progressed in the top-18. Should he so choose, the two-time Olympic silver medallist could upgrade his list in either the semi or the final round. Competing at his first Olympic Games, Imbeau-Duclac rested in 19th place as he approached the board for his final dive - one spot out of semi-final contention. The 21-year-old rocketed into 12th place with an impressive forward 2.5 somersault with three twists, rewarded for his outstanding effort with 8.0 marks. Imbeau-Dulacs resulting 93.60 single-dive score was the highest of the competition. While Despatie and Imbeau-Dulac emerged relatively unscathed, several divers seemed to tighten up during the long wait between dives. Twenty-nine divers took close to 30 minutes to complete each round. In the second round of the day, Germanys Stephan Feck lost control of a forward 3..dddddddddddd5 somersault to hit the water on his back. Feck, who finished 15th at the 2012 World Cup earlier this year, received scores of zeroes and later bowed out of the competition. Three rounds later, Chinas Qin Kai launched himself off the board in an almost superman-like rendition of a forward 4.5 somersault. As the Olympic bronze medallist crashed into the water, the crowd gasped in shock; the miss was beyond uncharacteristic of the typically flawless Chinese. The 26-year-old smiled with bemusement after he climbed out of the pool, already assured of a place in the 18-diver final by virtue of strong results in his previous three dives. Qin placed 11th overall. "I stepped half a step too much off the board," he told reporters, later. "At least I got into the semi-final. I will improve later." Russias Ilya Zakharov finished first, edging defending Olympic champion He Chong by 6.75 points to lead the field. Troy Dumais of the United States placed third. Scores will be reset ahead of Tuesdays semi-final, and the divers will begin on even ground. They will perform in reverse order, with the first-place qualifier diving last. The top-12 divers will advance to the final, set for Tuesday evening. ' ' '
