(Sports Network) - Its hard to believe, but the Los Angeles Dodgers can secure their first sweep of the 2011 season with a victory this afternoon versus the Detroit Tigers in the finale of a three-game series from Chavez Ravine. The Dodgers tied their season-long winning streak of three games for the fourth time this season with Tuesdays 6-1 triumph in the second installment of this series. Andre Ethier belted a two-run homer and Dee Gordon, A.J. Ellis, Tony Gwynn Jr. and Trent Oeltjen all drove in a run for Los Angeles, which is 3-5 on a season-long 12-game, 14-day homestand and hadnt won three in a row since closing out the month of May with such a streak. LAs most recent series win was at Cincinnati from June 3-5. Matt Kemp stole two bases in the seventh inning after reaching on a walk to make him just the second Dodger all-time to have 20 home runs and 20 steals before the All-Star break. Dodgers first base coach Davey Lopes was the only other Dodger to accomplish that feat, doing so in 1979. Davey is one of my teachers, so this is special, said Kemp. Hes pointing things out to me. I feel like were on a roll. Chad Billingsley got the win with 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball. The Dodgers will also welcome the Angels to Chavez Ravine on this residency and will pin todays pitching duties on Ted Lilly. The veteran has alternated wins and losses over his last eight decisions, spanning 10 starts. He lost to Houston on Friday in a 7-3 setback from LA, as he was reached for six runs -- five earned -- and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Lilly fell to 5-6 in 15 starts to go along with a 4.26 ERA this season. He is 3-4 in seven home starts and will make his 11th career appearance against the Tigers, having gone just 2-4 with a 4.63 ERA in the first 10 games, seven of which have been starts. Detroit managed to stay within a game of Cleveland for the AL Central lead, as both clubs lost on Tuesday. The Tigers have dropped two straight and fell to 1-4 on a six-game road trip, and starting pitcher Max Scherzer failed in his bid to become the majors first 10-game winner after allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks over six innings of work. Victor Martinez, starting at first base so Miguel Cabrera could rest, drove in the Tigers only run and finished with two hits. Brennan Boesch also had two hits and is batting over .400 with six home runs and 13 RBI in the past 18 games for the Tigers, who are expected to have Cabrera in the lineup Wednesday. Cabrera pinch-hit last night and grounded into a double play. We ran into a couple of hot pitchers the last two nights. We just didnt do anything offensively, said Detroit manager Jim Leyland after Tuesdays setback. Despite the loss, the Tigers are still an impressive 65-33 in interleague action since the 2006 campaign. Martinez will most likely resume his duties behind the plate this afternoon and is hitting .380 with eight doubles, two home runs, and 15 RBI in his last 24 games. Leylands club will return to the Motor City after todays game to kick off a 10-game homestand versus the Diamondbacks, Blue Jays, Mets and Giants. The Toronto game is make-up of a rainout from May 17th at Comerica Park. Detroit will send Rick Porcello to the mound today, and he is 2-3 with a 6.31 earned run average in his last five starts. Porcello suffered his second straight defeat since a two-game winning streak in Fridays 13-6 loss at Colorado, where he permitted nine runs -- six earned -- in just three innings. Porcello, a right-hander, fell to 6-5 in 13 starts and unintentionally raised his ERA from 3.61 to 4.18. He is 4-2 in eight road starts this season and will take on the Dodgers for the second time in his career. In a 6-2 road victory over Los Angeles on May 23 of last season, Porcello tossed six innings of two- run ball for the win. Los Angeles won two of three meetings with Detroit a year ago at Dodger Stadium, but these clubs have split the past 10 encounters with one another. wholesale nfl jerseys . So, he just popped it back into place and stayed in the game Saturday night. Two batters later, he started an inning-ending double play at third base, and then in the eighth he delivered the go-ahead single for the Oakland Athletics in a 9-7 victory over the Chicago White Sox. "I dislocated it. I just had to put it back in the socket," Inge said of his right shoulder that came out of place after he made a diving stop in the seventh on Alex Rios infield single down the third base line. "It might get a little sore tomorrow, but Ill do my best," Inge said. The White Sox went on to score in the seventh on A.J. Pierzynskis RBI single for a 7-6 lead. But Jonny Gomes homered off Matt Thornton (4-8) in the eighth, and after singles by Yoenis Cespedes and Chris Carter, Inge greeted reliever Brett Myers with a go-ahead single into the right field corner. "I guess it just shows two teams that dont want to give up. I like that," Inge said. Inge said he would do what was best for the As on Sunday but hopes to be in the lineup. "I plan on playing. If I feel like Im going to be a detriment to the team, I wont come back in," he said. "If I feel like I have something to offer, Ill play through some pain. Just make sure Im somewhat smart about it." Gomes added an RBI single in the top of the ninth before Grant Balfour pitched the bottom half for his eighth save in 10 chances, his first since May 5. Balfour took the closers role back from Ryan Cook (5-2), who gave up Pierzynskis single in the seventh but got the win. "I was surprised he stayed in the game. He felt like the shoulder may have come out of the socket and went back in," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said of the veteran Inge. "He stayed in, made a great play on the double play and ends up getting what ends up being the biggest hit. We all know hes a very tough guy and can play through a lot of pain." Tyler Flowers homered and had three RBIs and a career-high three hits for the White Sox.dddddddddddd Kevin Youkilis also homered for Chicago and was hit in the left forearm by Balfours pitch in the ninth. Thornton took the blame for the pitch he made to Gomes. "Its really frustrating. Weve been playing well and I didnt do my job," he said. "One-run lead and I thought it was a good idea to throw him a breaking ball. He jumped all over it." Chicago starter Francisco Liriano, who left his previous start after five innings with a bruised right quadriceps, didnt make it out of the fourth this time. He surrendered seven hits and six runs in 3 1-3 innings. He struck out four of the first five batters Saturday before he got in trouble in the third when the As loaded the bases on a single, walk and hit batter. Carter delivered a two-run single, Inge walked to reload the bases, and Derek Norris had a two-run, ground-rule double. Adam Rosales then drove in the fifth run of the inning with a single as Oakland sent 10 batters to the plate. Chicago scored two in the second on an infield out by Dayan Viciedo and an RBI double by Flowers. Josh Reddick had an RBI single for Oakland in the fourth, and Flowers added a run-scoring single for the White Sox in the bottom half. Youkilis hit his 14th homer in the fifth to make it 6-5. It was his 10th since joining the White Sox in a June 24 trade from Boston. Flowers third homer of the season tied it at 6-6 in the sixth. Oaklands Travis Blackley, in his first start since July 29, gave up five runs and six hits in five innings. Notes: Cook has been removed from the closers role, at least temporarily, by Melvin, who said he wanted to get the rookie some work in lower-pressure situations. Cook has converted just two of his last six save opportunities, and 12 of 19 for the season. ... White Sox 1B Paul Konerko will take it easy this weekend and will be re-evaluated by doctors after suffering a concussion earlier this week and being placed on the 7-day DL. Chicago manager Robin Ventura said Konerko wont be on the first part of next weeks trip that starts in Toronto. OF Dewayne Wise was called up from Triple-A to take Konerkos roster spot. ' ' '
