Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

"Well, it's more that we try not to meddle in other nations' affairs. We're more than happy to trade with people as long as they don't mind us trading with everyone else. We tend to give people funny looks when they say 'No, you can't trade with us because you trade with them and we don't like the way they dress.'."

Gavrila chuckled at Ned's response. "Hey, whatever works for you. I meant it more politically zough; as far as I know you mostly just deal wiz Demoness. Your two countries seem to be practically glued togezer."

"Oh, and I zink most people would give someone funny looks if zey wouldn't trade wiz you because you trade wiz someone zey zink dresses weird," Gavrila said grinning."

"I dunno... have you seen the hats that some of those people out there wear?" Ned shook his head and laughed. "Though, it is true that we deal mostly with Demoness. That doesn't mean that we don't have trade agreements out there or that we prohibit our domestic companies from working on a global scale."

Gavrila laughed along with the Prince, then continued on with the conversation. "I was just saying zat you do not really seem to get out zere and interact wiz ozer countries much," she said, "Cetatsenia included."

"That's an old habit, I'm afraid. Especially after the 'Great' War. For the most part, we didn't want to be bothered, so why would anyone else? We're slowly replacing the old guard in the senate that feel that way, so I can imagine a few polite feelers will be sent out shortly."

Gavrila smiled, while Aurel bristled a bit but did his best to hide it. "Well zat should make Andreea and Gavrila pretty happy," Gavrila said, smirking, "But ze Great War? Which one would zat be?"

"I would lean toward the second. You know, since there wasn't supposedly wasn't going to be a second." Ned sighed. "Though as I recall, our monarchies both resisted the socialists in that conflict."

At that Gavrila gave a wicked grin. "Hell yes we did," she did, then looked up at Aurel, "Did we not?" It wasn't fairly obvious, but anyone paying close attention would realize that there was more to the question than what the Knezinja had simply said.

At that Aurel nodded, and when he spoke his voice was solemn with an undercurrent of anger, "Yes we did. Beat zem back to zeir own country."

"Yeah, my grandfazer and Aurel fought alongside each ozer in ze AEC," Gavrila said, confident that she could talk about the topic. If Aurel hadn't wanted to speak of it, he would have just nodded and not said anything. Though Gavrila was careful to occasionally glance over her shoulder at her elderly servant so long as they were on the topic of the Second Great War.

Ned noted Aurel's slight discomfort of the topic and while Aurel seemed fine with the discussion so far, Ned decided to steer away. "Well, perhaps it is time we revisit old comrades in arms. I'll definitely have a word with my father when I head home and we'll see about having someone come to Fenwick or send an ambassador to Cetatsenia."

He turned to Jia Li. "We should probably take some time and discuss arrangements at some point, yes?"
