Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

"Well, that would make for an interesting trip. Here's hoping that I'd be able to avoid any paparazzi if I went to the beach." He leaned back on his cushion. "Albraustana-zid is the capitol, right? Our capitol is far smaller than Deseret, but that's mainly due to the constrains of geography, I'm sure."

"Yeah, Albraustana-zid, capital of Cetatsenia and home to a quarter of everyone zat lives zere. It is one of ze few 'cities' zat is not just a glorified town," Gavrila said, "And what exactly constrains your capital? Albraustana-zid is built in ze middle of ze Centric Basin, so it was mostly just open land before. Wiz some forests of course."

"New Aedmon is nestled right up to a mountain range and a river. Old strategic placement for the settlement with natural defenses. Only one way in or out when it was originally settled. Made defense easy on the city and hard for armies to push on it. Part of the reason it never fell during the Unification War."

"Gotcha, sounds like a pretty sound decision. Albraustana-zid started as zree different settlements built along the Albastru River for protection," Gavrila said, "I zink Albrau was ze one Ioan I took for his capital after his little Unification War, but to be honest I get ze zree of zem confused all ze damn time."

"I'd probably just solidify all three for the ease of remembering. I mean, they're all the capitol now. Unless that's a big faux pas to say in the city."

"Fuck, I must have said zat wrong," Gavrila said, "Ze zree of zem; Albrau, Stana, and Zid; no longer exist. Zey are all part of Albraustana-zid now, and are just considered to be one city. But zey were still separate when Cetatsenia was created."

"I meant in some cases that citizens still consider areas something else. Granted our Unification War was a very long time ago, but some people in the 'backwoods' still refer to certain areas by their pre-war designations. Centuries later." He shook his head, making it obvious that he thought it was an incredibly ridiculous behavior. "At this point it's all one city with three districts, I'm assuming?"

"Nah, it is one city wiz a bunch of districts," Gavrila said, "Ze distinction between ze zree settlements is really just a historic one. Zough ze zird one was still considered a separate city until ze 30s."

"So just little historical plaques and such, I assume? How about this, I'll show you around Deseret, you can show me around Albraustana-zid."

Gavrila grinned in response, hoping that maybe Ned was finally picking up on what was going on. Or he could just be being friendly, and still just as oblivious as before. Regardless, it was a tempting offer.

"Ha, sounds like a plan," she said, "Zough are you sure you want to visit Albraustana-zid? I could always show you around Dreaptoras; it may not be as impressive, but it is where I rule from. Plus I could show you around my palace." She really hoped he wasn't dense enough to still not get it.
