Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

At that Gavrila smiled, but inside she was still a bit frustrated. His offer seemed completely innocent, and it didn't look like he was aware that she was hitting on him yet. But she was going to keep trying, and if all else failed she could always just get Jia Li to tell him the reason she'd brought them.

"Zat sounds wonderful. Do zink you will stop by my room, or should I drop by yours?" she asked.

Ned shrugged slightly. "I can swing by later, if you don't mind me changing out of my uniform and into something more comfortable. You wouldn't be too offended by jeans and a t-shirt would you?"

"Ha, not at all. I would much razer you be comfortable," Gavrila said with a laugh, "So long as you do not care zat I am going to be wearing pretty much zis, minus ze tie and jacket." With that she gestured down to her suit.

Ned shook his head. "Informal-ish it is. So what else is on the docket for this evening?"

"Eh, it is not so much zat it is informal-ish, as it is zat I just do not feel like changing my clozing," Gavrila said with a shrug, then she turned to Jia Li, "Yeah, what else do you have planned for zis wonderful evening?"

Jia Li wiped the smirk off of her face, or rather, pretended that it was a result of the sweet fruit on which she was sucking. Personally, she couldn't tell if Ned had picked up on Gavrila's interest either and it was rather amusing. She'd never flirted with Ned, except as an inexperienced child, but she'd noticed Alexis Nedia's interest in him long before he had; she was an ex-girlfriend and she thought she'd harbored her crush on Ned for three years before he noticed her. That would not be a good outlook for Gavrila.

"Well, it's late and I didn't figure you would be up to much travel tonight, so I thought a brief tour of the Palace would be good. The view from my garden is especially lovely at night and if you don't care of that, the view of the city is certainly wonderful, ne?" The last was a brief question for Ned. "If you feel up to travel, I think there might be a few shows or something we can see on short notice downtown."

Ned nodded in agreement. "I've always loved the view of the city from the top of the Plateau. Especially if you're willing to risk getting right up to the edge to look out."

At the question Gavrila nodded and grinned. "Zat sounds like a plan, I cannot wait to see more of ze palace," she said happily, "It is really damn impressive." She also silently made a decision to make sure to stand next to Ned for the length of the tour, and hopefully get him to realize she was hitting on him. And if not, she'd just tell him later.

Jia Li frowned. "Ned-mitsu, do you still know how to get onto the roof?"

"No," Xel snapped immediately.

"I was going to stick to the roof access points," she replied in a teasing voice.

"No, you weren't," he muttered, otherwise she would never have asked Ned how to get onto the roof. There was normal access for maintenance, of course, and a few more dangerous routes, but her question was more about areas not easily accessible and normally not traversed. Yuri had often climbed onto the roof for solace, but she had shown and convinced others to join her, including Princess Hikari. Jia Li, however, couldn't be trusted up there. "Especially not with your balance," he added and she stuck her tongue out at him.

"In any case, there are several vantage points," she continued. "The most common one is right by the path, which you climbed to get here. It's probably the most unobstructed view aside from the roof."

"That is true, but I agree with Xel. The roof is a little too dangerous. Heck, the plateau's edge is dangerous as well... pretty sure they still haven't installed any real safety railings."
