Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

Ned gave her a semi-disapproving look. "It's gonna be a plane to your bed if you keep that up, missy."

"Plane!" Adiwyn reiterated. "I'm not tired!"

Ned gave Jia Li a look before tilting Adiwyn down and making a takeoff sound. "Tower to Princess Adiwyn, you are cleared for takeoff. WOOOOSH!" He spun her around a little bit and then pulled her back in. "Alright, little one. I have some stuff that I need to do tonight. If I promise to give you some more flights tomorrow and play with you in the garden will you go with your mom and go to bed?"

Adiwyn scowled. "No. I want to stay with you," she whined.

Jia Li held her arms out. "Are you sure? Uncle Ned's busy. You could trade a few minutes tonight for an hour tomorrow," she said.

"No!" she cried again. Xel looked slightly perturbed, but he didn't interfere; he would have been beaten into obedience as a child, yet he knew that wasn't the norm.

Ned ruffled her hair a little bit. "You listen to your mom, Adiko. It's time for bed. I'll see you tomorrow morning, okay?"

"No!" Adiwyn whined again, but it was obvious that she was losing the battle toward sleep. Even as she clung to Ned, her grip was much softer and she kept rubbing her eyes. Her head was heavy against Ned's shoulder, but she certainly inherited her mother's stubbornness; she wasn't going anywhere while she was conscious.

Ned shook his head and tried not to laugh. He had probably done similar things as a child. He had hated going to bed "early". He continued holding Adiwyn until she started nodding off. "So, do we sneak her to her room?" he asked in a loud-ish whisper.

Jia Li nodded. "Wait a few minutes," she whispered. "Tsukihana-shiro is still upstairs in her room waiting. I didn't think she'd take this long. She'll make sure she's put to bed properly, but I think once she's out, she'll be out for the night."

Ned nodded. "Uh... so now what?"

Jia Li shrugged, and then turned to Gavrila. "I'm sorry. She's a handful, but she's usually not this bad."
