Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

Ned shook his head with a grin on his face. "Well, I'd say that it depends on where you go, but the clubs in the city are the most well known in the nation. There are even a few that might be hard for me to get into on short notice."

Jia Li smirked. "Somehow I doubt that," she interjected.

"I said hard, not impossible," Ned said with a laugh. "Besides, you know me, I don't like kicking other people out of their reservations."

He looked down on the city and absorbed the bustle that even the night had. "I'm not even really sure what the draw is to some of them, to be honest. They're crowded and they might have good music and food, but you can find that in some of the smaller places out in the middle of nowhere too. You just have to be willing to look."

Jia Li smiled. "Remember Ryuu? Maybe you should ask her. She's still attending them with some regularity from what I hear." Xel nodded, though he disapproved.

Ned nodded. "Though I think Ryuu's approach to clubs is slightly different than ours would be if we visited one."

Gavrila laughed at well, realizing the man had a point. Gavrila and Gavril were like that too, they waited until something was actually available. Or tried at least, it didn't stop the owners from 'bumping up' them in the waiting list because of what a member of royalty or nobility could do for their business.

She put her hands behind her head, lacing her fingers together. "All right, remember zere is a newcomer here," Gavrila said with a grin, "I have no idea who ze hell Ryuu is."

"My cousin," Xel replied. "I think you were present for the conversation. She's the one who has a child that she leaves with the father. She has a real job and apparently she's good at it, but she goes to the club to relax."

"I'd say she's got a little bit of a wild streak as well, wouldn't you agree?" Ned inquired.

Xel nodded. "Considering the way she dresses, yes."

"There's nothing wrong with the way she dresses," Jia Li replied.

"She's-" He stopped, realizing that Ryuu was their age and Jia Li would have dressed the way she wanted to if her position had allowed it; it would not have been "age appropriate", so he couldn't condemn Ryuu either. He sighed.
