Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

Gavrila just shrugged. "Not too much really, just enough for me to decide I was interested," Gavrila said as she grinned, "Zough to be honest I was not entirely certain zat Jia Li would go zrough wiz it."

"I see, so I'm guessing that I have a weird propaganda team over here. I'm just trying to figure out if they spiced me up enough," Ned said with a laugh. "Though I am really not certain why the Empress is trying to play matchmaker," he said sticking his tongue out at Jia Li.

Gavrila grinned and laughed at what Ned had said, thinking back to the first day of Jia Li's visit to Cetatsenia. While her memory of the conversation wasn't perfect, there was one thing she was certain of. "Actually, I zink I jokingly suggested it when we were talking about ze fact zat me and my cousin were single," she said with a smile, "So it is my fault, really."

"That's alright. I'll just blame everyone. It's safer that way," he said with a nod. "Though now I'm concerned about how I came up in the first place."

Gavrila opened her mouth to answer, and then shut it because she actually didn't remember why Ned had come up. So she just shrugged and turned to Jia Li, "Zis one is for you. Because I do not remember in ze slightest."

Jia Li paused as she thought. "I think it was just because we were talking about singles," she answered, and then smiled. "It's not because I make a habit of talking about you. Though I did warn her a bit about your bad luck with women."

Ned rolled his eyes. "Gee, thanks." While it was certainly true, Jia Li's statement wasn't exactly something anyone would want to hear. "So, Gavrila, you're not a raging workaholic or a secret Clan plant somehow, are you?"

Gavrila chuckled at what Jia Li said, and smirked once Ned asked his question. "Zere are a hell of a lot of zings I am, but I am definitely not a workaholic. If anyzing, I work hardest to avoid doing work," she joked, "And I had no idea what ze Clans even were before Jia Li stopped by Albraustana-zid for her little visit."

Ned shook his head. "Well then that sounds like the main issues I have run into are already taken care of at least."
