Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

Jia Li smiled. "I'll arrange it then." She leaned further into Xel and then decided to sit down on the soft grass. Despite being on the edge, her feet were curled up next to her and Xel sat cross-legged beside her. She was quiet for a few minutes, enjoying the silence, and then smirked mischievously. "I have some things I need to do tomorrow morning. Ned-mitsu, do you think you can escort Gavrila back to her room when you're done here?"

Ned turned to Jia Li just in time to miss her smirk, but not the tone that accompanied it. "Uh huh," he replied with an amused snort. "Yeah, I can do that. Though where in the guest quarters do you have her staying?"

"It's the room above yours," Jia Li replied, giving the associated room number as well. "I'd tell you whose it used to be, but I don't think you remember her." She stood and brushed herself off. The grass was slightly damp with drew and earthiness was beginning to permeate the air, complementing the scent of flowers. "Good night Gavrila, Ned. I'll see you two tomorrow." She didn't wink, though she was tempted, and took her husband's hand as they left. They retreated slowly through the garden as if the walk back to her apartment was part of a romantic night; they were already whispering and Jia Li was giggling, though Adiko's name was also briefly spoken as they left earshot.

"Noapte bună," Gavrila said, grinning as Jia Li left with her husband, "I will see you tomorrow."

Then she decided to sit down on the grass, sighing contentedly as she watched Jia Li and Xel leave. Then she looked back up at Ned and smiled, patting the grass beside her. "Come on, have a seat," she said, "I will not bite. Unless you want me to, zat is."

Ned nodded. "Have a good night you two."

He turned and sat down next to Gavrila. "So, did you have any other plans for this evening or would you like to get some rest before tomorrow's outings? And it depends. Biting's kind of like kissing... except there's a winner."

"I'm not certain," Ned replied with a rather ambiguous look on his face. "I suppose that would depend on the goal."

While flirting was one thing, he didn't quite intend to get into a biting match so soon after meeting someone. "Anyway, is there something you'd like to do, somewhere you'd like to go?"

Gavrila shrugged, "No, not in particular. Anyzing you would suggest?"

Then, after noting Ned's face, she added, "And you do realize I was just making a joke about ze biting, right?"

Ned smirked. "I figured you were just playing, but who knows? You could secretly be a bitey madwoman."

The Knezinja just chuckled at Ned's comment. "Yeah, I suppose so," she said, smirking as well, "And I still could be; it is not like I would tell you if I was, after all."
