Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

"And now you're going to be visiting another nation shortly. Not only that, but you're getting to see a few different parts of them as well." Ned yawned. "Sorry, guess I'm a little more jetlagged than I thought."

Gavrila grinned in anticipation. "Yeah, it is going to be fucking awesome," she said, then tilted her head and raised one of her eyebrows, "Really? Jetlagged? How can you be jetlagged when Fenwick is right next to Demoness?"

"Who says that I flew in from Fenwick?" he replied without really answering her question. "Though I suppose if I had been coming from New Avalon it'd not be as bad. Though I don't think I flew nearly as far as you did. Perhaps sleep-deprived would've been better."

Gavrila just shrugged and smiled. "I tend to stay up pretty damn late, so I am not as tired as some people would be," she said, then turned to Aurel, "Vorbind de care, trebuie să fii obosit Aurel."

"Sunt bine, doamna," Aurel said slowly, attempting to stifle a yawn.

Gavrila just looked at her servant and shook her head. Then she turned to Ned, "I do not suppose we could head back to my room and chat? I zink Aurel needs his sleep."

"Cu tot respectul doamna, că nu este necesar," Aurel said, not wishing to be a burden to his Knezinja.

"Ești obosit. Te duci la culcare," Gavrila replied, not angry but obviously not happy with Aurel putting her before his own needs, "Nu te certa."

"Cum doriti doamna," Aurel finally said, resignedly.

"Bine!" Gavrila replied, then looked back to Ned, "All right, you do know ze way, right?"

Ned nodded. "Yeah, since Jia Li told me where you were staying, that shouldn't be a problem." He stood and extended a hand to help her up.

Gavrila smirked and took the proffered hand, allowing Ned to help pull her up into a standing position. She wiped the back of her pants off, in case any stray pieces of grass had clung to her and then looked at Ned, "All right, so let us get going."

Ned led them back into the palace, continuing their small talk and occasionally trying to include Aurel as well. He walked them back through the palace to Gavrila's room, making random commentary in his best impression of a tour guide. Once they reached her room, he gestured to the door. "And here we are. I hope you've enjoyed your tour, comments and feedback are always welcome, just fill out the card," he said with a smirk.

Ned would find that Gavrila was the one more receptive to his small talk, happily chatting away. Aurel on the other hand, while not rude, generally only spoke when Ned spoke directly to him. At Ned's joke, Gavrila just grinned and laughed, "I zink you would make a damn good tour guide."

Then she opened the door, and gestured into the room, "Come on in."

Ned bowed slightly with a minor dramatic flourish. "Why thank you, ma'am." He walked in and looked around the room. "So what do you think of your visit thus far?"

Gavrila followed Ned inside, with Aurel following closely behind her. She didn't need to tell the older man to go to bed; a simple look was enough to convey that. Aurel nodded his head to Gavrila, and made his way to another room to get the sleep he quite obviously needed.

"So far? It is amazing, zat is what I zink," Gavrila said to Ned, grinning, "It would be a lie if I said zat it is not impressive as all hell."
