Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

Ned laughed. "While it would be amusing to play with you a bit about that, yes. That was what I meant." Ned rubbed the side of his face absentmindedly. "Have you ever done any diving?"

Gavrila grinned and stuck her tongue out at him, but she couldn't blame him for entertaining the idea. After all, it's something she herself would do. Then she stretched her arms out above her head for a moment before she answered his question, "Nu. I assume you have zough, so what is it like?"

Ned took a deep breath while he considered how to describe diving. "Have you ever had a dream where you could breathe under water?"

Gavrila just shook her head and reclined back a little in her seat. "Nope, never," she said with a shrug, "At least, not zat I remember."

"Hmmm... well, the gear is a little heavy outside of the water, of course. Once you get in the water you hardly notice it. It's fun to swim along under water without having to worry about surfacing. You can sit and play with the fish that are curious enough to swim up to you and you can see some amazing things."

"I am not going to lie, zat sounds awesome," Gavrila said, a grin spreading across her face, "Maybe I should go diving once I get back home. Unless you want to make plans to go diving togezer some time."

Ned nodded. "Why not both? We could open ocean dive in Deseret and if you came to New Aedmon, I could take you diving in the aquarium there."

Gavrila was going to mention that if she had the opportunity to have her first dive be with Ned, then that was the option she was going to take. But she was interested in Ned's mention of diving in an aquarium.

"Diving in an aquarium? It must be a damn big aquarium," she said with a grin, "But I zink I would razer go and dive out in ze open ocean."

Ned nodded. "It's a decent sized aquarium, probably about a thousand fish in there and a handful of relatively docile sharks. Diving in the open ocean has its perks, but diving in the aquarium will get you closer to the 'wildlife' than you would outside Deseret."

At Ned's description of the aquarium Gavrila just blinked in surprise. She'd been expecting big, but not that big. "Damn, when you put it zat way I would razer stick wiz ze aquarium," she said, "Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. And sharks? Really?"
