Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet.

Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar.

Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?"

"So pretty much like any other decently sized animal," Ned replied. "Alright, now I don't want to put you on the spot... but this is a pretty serious question." He paused to let the gravity of it sink in. "What... is your favorite food? I want to make sure that the chefs can have it for you when you come to visit," he finished with a smirk.

Gavrila stopped and listened intently when Ned paused, honestly expecting some sort of serious question. And when he finally asked the question, she burst into a grin and laughed. "Ah pizdă, I do not really know," Gavrila said, "I love all kind of food; I do not zink I can pick a favourite. And besides, I want to taste Fenwicki food when I visit."

Ned laughed. "Well, then I hope you like meat. A lot of our traditional dishes, especially for visitors, are meat heavy. I think it was traditionally to show that you had the money to treat a visitor to a meal with meat and it just kind of held over as a sign of status."

"It depends on the region, really. Pork and poultry are popular in the east, while beef is popular in the central and southern region. Fish and other seafood along the coast, that sort of thing."

"Mmmm, zat sounds delicious," Gavrila said dreamily, and then snapped out of it and grinned, "Alright, we are going to need to stop talking about food, or else I am going to end up getting hungry again."

"Fine by my," Gavrila said with a grin, and then stopped to think for a few long moments before deciding on a question to ask, "All right, so, you already know about my great rats. So do you have any pets of your own?"
