Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet. Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar. Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?" |

At that Gavrila's grin grew even wider. "Oh good, now I do not have to worry about my blind date being cut short because Ned got eaten by a tiger," she joked, "Zat is a load off of my shoulders." |

"No, but the crocodiles still might pose a threat. They're shifty and untrustworthy," he replied. |

"So long as zey cannot climb out of zeir pens, I zink we are good," Gavrila laughed, "Shifty or not. Anyway, I do not want to waste any time. Let us get going." |

Adiwyn nodded. "As you wish," she replied amicably and indicated the path that wound around the Plateau. There was really only one way up or down the path and while it was wide enough for traffic to pass both ways, most non-natives did not enjoy sharing the road. At this time of day, the Plateau was quite busy between traffic of visitors and lessons for various years of High Guards. Adiwyn had begun a narration of the history of the Plateau, long-practiced, when they heard an excited shout "Ned!" followed by a quick, dark blur and Ned was immediately embraced by a short brunette woman. She was approximately Ned's age, maybe slightly younger, with plump cheeks and a curvy figure. She was of average height with long, evidently dyed black hair that was clearly tangled from the wind. Her eyes, a bright blue, were darkened by last night's eye shadow and she clearly preferred a Gothic look as she wore a short black dress, black boots, and the associated accouterments of the style. "When did you get in town? You were supposed to call me!" Her grin was wide as she released Ned and then hugged and kissed Netoru. "Uncle Netoru!" She didn't hesitated to embrace Adiwyn either, calling her grandmother, and then hugged Gavrila. "I didn't want to leave you out," she explained. "What are you up to?" she asked the group. |

Ned shrugged. "Well, I got into town yesterday and have been pretty well engaged with stuff since I got in, sorry. We're heading to the Zoo and then to check out the Blasphemous Shrine." He nodded to her. "How about you?" |

"Awesome! Can I go with you? I was just going to check in with Lina and make sure there hadn't been any changes," she replied, speaking at a fairly excited pace. "That can wait though. I haven't seen you in what seems like forever! And you said we'd catch up the last time I saw you. Oh! And I was going to tell you about Kitty." She grinned, taking on a sort of parental pride. Then she turned to Gavrila and offered her hand. "I'm Ryuu, by the way." She turned back to Ned. "I might have had a bit too much coffee today," she added and giggled. |

Gavrila grinned at the rather excitable young woman, who was obviously a friend of Ned's. Then when she mentioned coming with them, her smile fell off of her face. It wasn't that she didn't want the girl to come, it was that this was supposed to be her and Ned. Having Ryuu along would destroy any semblance of the trip being a date, which was how Gavrila viewed it at least. "Uh-huh, nice to meet you Ryuu," she said, "But me and Ned are kind of going on a date." She didn't actually tell the woman 'no', but she figured it was obvious that was what she meant. |

"Yeah, maybe a little too much coffee." Ned looked to Gavrila and nodded. "That's true. We can catch up later though, I'll be here most of the week." |

Ryuu looked between the two of them and smiled slyly. She knew Ned had issues with dating, though she didn't know much about them since they were more acquaintances than friends. She shrugged. "Alright, but I could show you around the Blasphemous Shrine. I've been cataloging the dungeon for the last year or so," she replied. "I have already contacted Ruadha Kenichi to give us a tour," Adiwyn interjected. Ryuu frowned. "He's only going to give you the biased history of the site," she replied with disdain. "He's related to the original founders and his family has been very careful to downplay their role in it. He's always walking on pins and needles about everything, but we found out he's been doing some sort of ritual this entire time on the the Lady of the Willow." She turned to Ned. "You've been there, ne? His family is the 'mysterious source' of that red rope," she added with annoyance. She turned back to Adiwyn. "And he's not going to show you any of the back rooms." She shrugged. "Of course, I shouldn't either. In any case, it would be a rather dry tour." She paused. "I think that I would be a better choice since I know the 'official' version of events and Ina's and I'm not biased." She smiled and then added, "Plus, I haven't been to the zoo for a while." |

Ned shrugged. "Maybe it would be better if we just met up with you at the shrine after our first tour and you could fill us in on the tidbits so we could get both sides?" Ned asked. |
