Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet. Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar. Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?" |

Gavril followed Adiwyn, chatting about inconsequential things as they made their way to the shark exhibit. She was actually surprised by the inclusion of the aquarium with the zoo; in Cetatsenia the zoos and aquariums were separate. A zoo may have a section for some aquatic creatures, but it wouldn't be anything as extensive as this. And she was enjoying the exhibit as well, grinning widely and not even bothering to hide the fact. She watched the sharks feed and the other creatures in the exhibit swim around. While most of her focus was on the sharks, she also liked the Manta rays. She found them to be rather interesting-looking animals, and they weren't found in any of the waters around Cetatsenia. "You know, zis is pretty damn cool," she said, grinning at Ned, "And I like how ze aquarium and ze zoo are togezer in one place." |

Adiwyn nodded. "It only makes sense. An aquarium is a zoo for maritime animals after all," she replied. "Of course, not every facility is able to accommodate both. If you like the aquarium, you should visit Beqa Hen. They have one built right on the coastline. It's really more of an animal rescue and sanctuary, but I think you would find it interesting." |

Adiwyn nodded. "I think so, yes. The shelf drops off very quickly next to Beqa Hen, so I believe that is what you are thinking of," she replied. "There are also coastal patrols to prevent too much disturbance in the sanctuary area, but it is difficult and Beqa Hen was a large port prior to this being set up. It's caused some significant outrage with the locals." |

"Yeah, I can see how zat could piss some people off," Gavrila replied, "Sailors and fishermen and crap can get really protective of 'zeir' water. Me and my cousin have had to deal wiz zat shit firsthand since Insemnat and Sudest boz border ze largest bay in Cetatsenia."

"The sanctuary was established to protect some of the wildlife they use for their livelihood. I don't believe they were overfishing, but it was necessary to take steps to preserve species," Adiwyn replied. "It also helps passing whale pods, so I suppose that detracts from its 'usefulness' to the locals. "What happened with the bay?" |

"Oh, nozing in particular really," Gavrila replied with a shrug as she continued to watch the sharks and other fish swim by, "But ze sailors and fishermen have a habit of getting angry over damn near every law zat is passed zat has to do wiz ze bay. It is never anyzing major and does not last too long, but it can get fucking irritating in ze short-term." |

"Understandable," Adiwyn agreed. The worker had concluded the narrative, dumping the rest of the chum and feed into the water, and exited to the back. Children crowded around the exhibit, watching the rest of the meal get consumed, and loudly pointed out interesting things. "It appears the show has ended. What would you like to see next?" |

"I think that they may still have a pair of Arythian Coyotes on loan from the zoo in New Aedmon, but I'm not positive. If so, we should take a look at 'em. They're about the size of a tiger and scarily intelligent." |
