Despite being the dead of winter in the northern hemisphere, all was not gloom in Demoness. The season was called Second Summer and was indeed more like its counterpart than an opposite. The weather was warmer and slightly humid, though the latter was due to the shower was predicted to visit Sacred Rock later that evening. For the time being, the weather was overcast as Ned Davion descended into the airport. He would soon be followed by Gavrila de Sud, but he was not quite aware of that fact yet. Visits between Fenwick and Demoness had become more than routine, with the prince representing his country more often than his father, and they had lost all their formality; a simple phone call announced his arrival and a car would meet him at the airport with little fanfare. He was admitted to the Plateau and after a little witty banter with the Guardian of the Gateway, an ex-girlfriend, he was led into Jia Li's private solar. Though technically a solar, it was more specifically a library and Jia Li lounged with her legs across her husband's lap; a chitael, either Nemesis or Aphrodite, lay in hers. She propped up a book on her chitael's head, reading happily while her husband reviewed something on a tablet. She looked up as Ned entered and smiled. "Hey, Ned-mitsu," she greeted. "I'd stand but..." She indicated the hundred pound animal purring on her lap. "When did you get in?" |

Gavrila just stared at Ned. "Coyotes. Ze size of tigers," she said, then shook her head, "Hell, I have to see zat; zey are even bigger zan ze wolves up in Cetatsenia. But first we finish looking at ze rest of ze fishes." |

Adiwyn nodded. "There is still the deep sea display, which we walked through rather quickly, or sections in the open ocean," she offered. "I am honestly now sure what is available, but I can try to accommodate anything you want to see." |

At Adiwyn's words a giant grin spread across Gavrila's face, and she looked at the older woman for a few long moments before finally speaking. "I want to see everything," she said, then she cocked her head and thought for a short moment, "Well, everyzing zat I can." |

Adiwyn nodded silently again and led them back toward the main section of the exhibit. They were still rather far from the deep ocean display, but the closest tank was still pretty interesting. Simply, it was a magnification of the local coral reefs and their fauna, which included manta rays and a wide variety of fish. There was even a small area where children could handle certain life, like sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and the like. The area segued into larger tanks which held the larger specimens, including fish that could be found in the open ocean. Some specimens were larger than a man and could easily be mistaken for an exaggeration or forgery if one simply showed a picture. This included the deep sea bass and the Mola Mola. Then less sunlight began to appear in other displays and these were where photosensitive creatures were kept. These included animals like various species of sea dragons and eventually incorporated deep sea animals like the Viper Fish. There were of course displays of jellyfish, octopuses, and squid as well, but no mammals aside from the attendants. |

Gavrila followed the Demonessian as the group made their way through the exhibits, with Aurel close behind her. The Knezinja was obviously enjoying herself, watching the numerous types of fish swimming by and happily chatting away with others in the group. When they arrived at the darker deep-sea exhibits she looked around. "Damn zese tanks are dark," she said as she put her face as close to the tank as possible, only for one of the pale and wide-eyed deep-sea fish to swim by right as she did so. "La naiba!" she said as she jumped back, obviously surprised by the sudden appearance of the fish. |

Adiwyn smiled gently. "It is the point to illustrate the darkness in which these creatures live," she replied. "Though I will admit it would be much more fascinating, visually, to see these creatures." She took a position near the exhibit's sign, which displayed the creature in detail as well as its habits and diet. She read it for a moment before adding, "I imagine these displays are much more interesting during feeding time, but I'm not sure when that would be." As she spoke, a chitael trotted its way down the tunnel, expertly navigating its way through the crowd, and continued onward. No one paid it any mind and it seemed to have a mission of its own. Gavrila might have heard that the chitaels could travel where they wish, but this might have been the first time she actually witnessed it. |

"Makes sense. Plus if I lived in ze dark all my life, I am pretty sure bright light would fucking blind me," Gavrila said with a chuckle; that was when she noticed the chitael making its way through the crowd. While none of the natives paid it any mind, Gavrila stared at the big cat as it padded on down the tunnel. She'd heard that chitaels could travel anywhere they wanted, and she'd seen them walking around the city and the palace but seeing one here was still strange, "Damn, when you say chitaels can go anywhere, you all do mean anywhere." |

Adiwyn nodded. "Most continue with their lives as if we never moved into the city, but some have adapted to beg for food from tourists or to eat the offerings left at shrines," she replied. "I'm not sure what that one is doing here." |

"Maybe it's coming for feeding time too. Fresh fish," Ned said with a chuckle. |

"Hey, animals love food," Gavrila replied with a grin, "And I am sure zat if she tried hard enough she could find at least one person willing to fork over a little bit of fish." |
